Daechi-dong eel rice bowl weekend lunch for three, parking: Manmok
In short
Manmok is a Kanto-style eel rice bowl restaurant in Daechi-dong near Seonleung Station in Gangnam, Seoul. Three of us came for weekend lunch and each ordered the half-portion eel rice bowl at 26,000 won, served with salad, chawanmushi (savory steamed egg custard), soup and side dishes; with the two spots in front of Manmok taken, we used the Samjeong Building lot at 6,000 won an hour. The eel tasted clean and mild rather than heavily seasoned, and with matcha and black tea ice cream to finish, Manmok stayed calm enough to eat alone.

A place to enjoy Kanto-style eel rice bowl focused purely on the eel's natural flavor, in a calm space near Seonleung Station — that was Manmok. Using freshwater eel from Gochang and finished in the Kanto style, the eel rice bowl was clean and soft without any salty or overpowering taste, and the whole meal — from salad and chawanmushi to the side dishes and dessert ice cream — felt neatly put together. Whether you're looking for a Daechi-dong lunch spot, a nice solo meal, or just a quiet dinner, here's my story from this Gangnam eel rice bowl restaurant, let's go ♩

A neat, refined Gangnam eel rice bowl restaurant in a calm space! A Daechi-dong lunch spot @ Manmok

Why we picked Manmok near Seonleung Station for weekend lunch
I was trying to decide where to eat lunch and found Manmok, close to Seonleung Station. It was a day I'd be spending at cafes and shopping all day, with plenty of eating ahead, so I wanted lunch to be clean but still a proper meal rather than too heavy. Manmok has a customer rating of 4.85!! Let's step into this Daechi-dong lunch spot, shall we?

Inside Manmok: atmosphere and seating
Walking in, I felt a calm mood right away rather than anything bright or flashy. We got a seat first,

and with the lowered lighting, the warmth of wood,

plant styling, and a textured wall all came together for an overall refined feel at this Gangnam eel rice bowl restaurant, Manmok. The hall itself is open, but seats divided by partitions let you dine a bit more privately, and our seat also felt slightly separated, so we could eat comfortably without minding those around us.

Weekend parking at Manmok when the two front spots are taken
Seonleung is busier on weekdays, but Manmok gets quite a few customers on weekends too. Because of that we couldn't park in front, so we parked at the nearby Samjeong Building as guided — the staff were kind, and it was 6,000 won for an hour. Plenty of people were dining solo in the private-feeling seats too. Eel rice bowl solo lunch on the weekend... good good!

Manmok's menu and the half-portion eel rice bowl at 26,000 won
Gangnam eel rice bowl restaurant Manmok uses freshwater eel from Gochang and sticks to the Kanto-style method that keeps the eel's texture and clean flavor. The Kanto style grills the eel, then steams it, then brushes it with sauce and grills it again over charcoal — Manmok finishes its eel this way too, so instead of a greasy feel you get a soft, clean, high-quality eel flavor.
The menu itself felt quite upscale too. Manmok's menu is
Eel rice bowl / grilled eel / nabe
broadly split into three categories. Both the eel rice bowl and grilled eel can be ordered as half, whole, or one-and-a-half portions, which was nice for adjusting to how hungry you are.
Eel rice bowl half portion 26,000 won *3
I ordered Manmok's signature menu, the soft and clean Kanto-style eel rice bowl that really brings out the eel's natural flavor. Since we were heading straight to dessert after, I ordered the half portion — I'd say half for women, whole for men would be just right. I had the half and it wasn't skimpy at all — I ate until full.

What comes with the eel rice bowl at Manmok
Manmok's basic set was really clean. It's not just the eel rice bowl on its own — it comes with salad, chawanmushi, soup, and side dishes worth pairing with it.

The side dishes were cutely arranged on a small plate — pickled ginger, fresh wasabi, pickled whole pepper, and radish pickle all looked really neat. A good setup for enjoying the eel's flavor as is, then mixing things up with a side in between :)

Not a salad drowning in dressing — clean and fresh.
Manmok's carefully arranged spread is worth seeing in video too,
and the chawanmushi was really soft. I slipped trying to photograph it a few times haha. Genuinely soft, with shrimp meat inside adding great flavor too.

How Manmok's Kanto-style eel rice bowl tasted
Finally, the star of today's Daechi-dong eel rice bowl restaurant, gorgeous from the start — the main eel rice bowl! Glossy eel neatly laid over the rice looked clean too. There's a reason it's a Daechi-dong lunch spot~~~ Highly recommend this for a Gangnam solo lunch, Manmok's eel rice bowl!!!

One bite in, the eel was quite soft, and the seasoning wasn't overdone, too sweet, or too salty. Personally I don't love eel rice bowls with heavy, punchy seasoning, and Manmok is exactly the style I like~

The eel and rice themselves had such high quality that I didn't even think about Nagoya-style hitsumabushi and its various eating methods — that's Manmok's Kanto-style eel rice bowl~

Dessert at Manmok: matcha and black tea ice cream
After the meal, Manmok has matcha and black tea ice cream for dessert. The matcha had that rich, distinctive matcha flavor with a sweetness like white chocolate added in, tastier than I expected, and the black tea had a nice aroma that wrapped things up cleanly~ Finishing the eel rice bowl with ice cream to cleanse the palate made the meal end on a good note at Man.mok.
Did you find your Daechi-dong lunch spot today? What did you decide on for your Gangnam solo lunch menu? Genuinely recommending this Kanto-style eel rice bowl restaurant, Manmok, highly highly — that's today's story, the end ♥
