Sanbon Station restaurant with Chinese glass noodles: Deodolpan

In short

Deodolpan Sanbon Branch is a live-fire stone-plate Korean restaurant on the second floor of a building on Rodeo Street, by exit 3 of Sanbon Station in Gunpo, Gyeonggi. On this visit, a regular of more than 10 visits ordered the jeyuk bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork) set meal for two and added Chinese glass noodles, picked doenjang jjigae and cheonggukjang as the two set stews, and finished with self-serve fried rice on the plate. With banchan refills from the self-bar and a wide hall that suits two people or a large group, Deodolpan Sanbon Branch is an easy pick for lunch or a drink on Rodeo Street.

Do you know about Deodolpan Sanbon Branch, the place that recently opened on Sanbon Rodeo Street? As a Sanbon resident for over 2n years, I always check out new restaurants!

I went a few days after it opened and loved it so much I brought my family too. I've visited more than 10 times, and now that a good opportunity came up, I get to introduce it to you all -!!

Where is Deodolpan Sanbon Branch, and what are its hours?

Deodolpan Sanbon Branch is located at 16-7 Sanbon-ro 323beon-gil, 2nd floor, unit 201, Gunpo, Gyeonggi. It's open daily 11:00 - 22:00, with a break time from 15:00 - 16:00.

This Sanbon favorite is reached by walking straight out of exit 3 of Sanbon Station, in the building on the left just before the central fountain. It's easy to find since it's in the same building as Salady, Photoism, and Shinmajang. Take the elevator to the 2nd floor and it's the restaurant on your right!

Inside Deodolpan Sanbon Branch: atmosphere and seating

There are a ton of tables inside, so it feels really spacious. The walls are full glass windows, so it's super bright during the day! It looks great for two people or a big group.

What comes with the Deodolpan set meal, and what we ordered

The Deodolpan set meal comes with rice, stew, and jjolmyeon noodles as the base. I always order the set meal myself. Both the cheonggukjang and doenjang jjigae here are delicious, so I'd recommend the single-person set for solo diners too.

Lots of customers have a drink with dinner, so there are separate drinking table sets and hot pot dishes too. Today we ordered the jeyuk bokkeum set meal for two!

A deeply brewed water. Certified good restaurant.

The five banchan and the self-bar at Deodolpan Sanbon Branch

The basic banchan come out neatly arranged: yeolmu kimchi (young radish kimchi), bean sprouts, pickled radish, baek-mogi mushrooms, and perilla leaves. Anything you run low on can be refilled anytime at the self-bar!

The bean sprouts and yeolmu are especially good mixed into rice later, so I'd really recommend grabbing more from the self-bar haha.

Jeyuk bokkeum set meal for two: spicy pork and jjolmyeon on the stone plate

Here's the jeyuk bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork) set meal for two! True to the restaurant's name, it comes out on a fired stone plate. It's a two-person portion but comes out really generous. Jjolmyeon and perilla leaves are piled temptingly on top of the spicy stir-fried pork. I added the Chinese glass noodles myself haha.

The jjolmyeon at this Sanbon Station favorite is a real specialty. Mixed with the sweet and spicy pork sauce, it's the perfect combo! The pork was packed in but had absolutely no gamey smell, so even I, who's sensitive to smells, enjoyed it. Plenty of green onion and onion too, right up my alley...

Chinese glass noodles add-on: when do they taste best?

This was my first time adding the Chinese glass noodles. I'd recommend tucking them under the stone plate and waiting for them to cook a bit more! They soak up the sauce and get chewy, and that's when they taste way better.

Doenjang jjigae or cheonggukjang: which stew should you choose?

The Deodolpan set meal lets you choose between doenjang jjigae or cheonggukjang, and both are good, so just pick whichever suits you. If you like a spicy, tangy doenjang jjigae, it'll hit the spot. The cheonggukjang is rich and deeply savory too — my parents especially loved it.

There's sesame oil on every table. Pile plenty of pork onto your rice, drizzle on the sesame oil, and you'll polish off a whole bowl.

Pork bibimbap mixed with yeolmu kimchi and bean sprouts

Mixing in the yeolmu kimchi and bean sprout side dishes makes it twice as good. The sauce isn't a heavy gochujang base but more of a smoky, glossy, chewy syrup-style seasoning, so mixing it into rice is genuinely amazing ㅜ ㅜ

Finishing with self-serve fried rice on the stone plate

You know stir-fried dishes always have to end with fried rice, right? At Deodolpan Sanbon Branch, it's self-serve, so you fry it up yourself. It comes topped with seaweed flakes, finely chopped pickled radish, and kimchi.

Leftover pork and vegetables chopped and stir-fried into rice
Finished fried rice with a scorched-rice crust from the stone plate

Chopping up the leftover pork and vegetables and mixing them into the fried rice is a whole different kind of delicious... Since it's on a stone plate, pressing it down quickly forms a crispy scorched-rice crust too. No matter how full you are, there's always room for fried rice~

Since it's a place I visit often, I left satisfied once again. I recommend Deodolpan Sanbon Branch, the go-to lunch spot for office workers on Sanbon Rodeo Street -!!
