Now that the weather has turned chilly, I started craving piping hot taiyaki (fish-shaped pastry) haha. Street taiyaki is great, but lately you see so many versions made with salt bread or with all kinds of toppings, right! So this time I visited Childish, a taiyaki café in Seongsu 💗

Childish doesn't just sell ordinary taiyaki. The menu runs from salt bread–taiyaki hybrids to pizza taiyaki and even Dubai taiyaki. Best of all, they bake the taiyaki right after you order, which I was really looking forward to! So, let me tell you about Childish, a dessert café in Seongsu 🐟

Childish is at 114 Yeonmujang-gil, 2nd floor, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, near Exit 3 of Seongsu Station. It is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11 AM to 9 PM and closed every Monday.

You can reach it from Exit 3 of Seongsu Station, and since it's known for salted taiyaki, it's a nice stop when you want to try something different 😊 There were so many unusual combos that I could see myself agonizing over what to order haha. Childish's pizza salted taiyaki (₩5,500) is a pizza-style taiyaki loaded with cheese. Just from the description, it sounds like a can't-go-wrong combo haha.

It pairs salty salt bread with pizza-style filling, so if you like pizza you'll probably be curious about it. It feels completely different from regular red bean or custard taiyaki, which makes it a fun snack. Since Childish bakes the taiyaki after you order, you can even watch it being made while you wait! Salt bread X taiyaki (₩4,500) is Childish's signature item! As the name says, it combines salt bread and taiyaki, and it's said to use rice flour and 100% milk-fat butter with a lower gluten content.

Unlike ordinary taiyaki, you get the appeal of salt bread too, which felt special. So many people love salt bread these days, right haha. It's a familiar dessert with a new twist, so I was even more interested. And since it's baked as soon as you order, you can enjoy it warm! Mammoth chewy salted taiyaki with mugwort rice cake, chewy rice cake and red bean butter

The mammoth chewy salted taiyaki (₩7,000) has a name as unique as the item itself: mugwort rice cake, chewy rice cake and red bean butter (anbutter) together 😊

Chewy mugwort and glutinous rice cake with sweet, nutty red bean butter? The combination itself is appealing. It's a bit pricier than the other salted taiyaki, but if you like desserts with several ingredients, it's worth a look. If you like rice cake and red bean butter, I think you'll find a different charm from ordinary taiyaki!

Dubai taiyaki in Seongsu: Pistachio Dubai taiyaki

Childish sells the Pistachio Dubai taiyaki for ₩7,000, and you can add chocolate ice cream for ₩1,500. If you like Dubai-style desserts these days, it's hard to walk past haha.

Fire Play Cream Coffee (₩6,900) is Childish's signature drink. Besides taiyaki, Childish has signature drinks, and the one that stood out was the Fire Play Cream Coffee!

It's a signature cream coffee that looks like the marshmallow has been played with fire 🔥 It's iced only, so it's a good choice when you want a cold coffee rather than a hot drink. Taiyaki and coffee together sound perfect for dessert time!

Decaf cold brew when caffeine is a worry

Childish also has decaf cold brew (₩4,500). It's a good choice when you want to cut down on caffeine.

Childish is a Seongsu dessert café with taiyaki–salt bread combinations, and the most appealing thing was that the taiyaki is baked as soon as you order, so you eat it warm. The weather had turned chilly and I'd been craving taiyaki, so this time I met it in a slightly different way 😊

From pizza salted taiyaki to the mammoth chewy salted taiyaki with mugwort rice cake and red bean butter, and the Dubai taiyaki, there's plenty of variety to choose from.
