Yangju Korean BBQ restaurant with galbitang and dessert: Manpo Garden

In short

Manpo Garden is a charcoal-grilled galbi restaurant in Yangju, Gyeonggi. We ordered two portions of galbi and one galbitang, with yukjeon and yukhoe among the complimentary sides, then finished with mul naengmyeon and café-zone desserts. Verdict: a generous, great-value choice for family meals and group gatherings.

A parking-friendly galbi spot on the road from Okjeong to Goeup

Not long ago, while looking for a nice meat restaurant for dinner with an acquaintance, I visited Manpo Garden, a Yangju favorite known for galbi (marinated beef short ribs)! It is on the road from Okjeong to Goeup, haha. Plenty of buses pass by too, so public-transport access is not bad either.

Can you see the upscale feel right from the exterior? Hehe. It would be so nice for bringing your parents, too.

Manpo Garden in Yangju has a spacious, comfortable dedicated parking area. Not having to worry about parking when you drive is the biggest plus, right? 🚗

Private rooms make the interior great for family gatherings and work dinners

The restaurant interior was really spacious and pleasant as well. In particular, it has well-equipped private room-style spaces, so it looked ideal for family gatherings, work dinners, and group get-togethers!

Galbi and galbitang, with generous complimentary sides

Manpo Garden in Yangju was reasonably priced too, so it was easy to enjoy without feeling burdened! The two of us ordered two portions of galbi and one galbitang (beef short-rib soup), hehe.

The side dishes were incredibly varied and neatly presented, and yukjeon (pan-fried battered beef slices) and yukhoe (Korean-style beef tartare) even came as complimentary sides!

I was very happy that we could help ourselves freely to extra sides at the clean, well-maintained self-service bar without feeling awkward : )

Large galbi grilled over powerful charcoal

After a wait, charcoal with great heat came out quickly!!

Charcoal brought out to grill the galbi

Can you see the amount for just two portions of galbi... The ribs were huge and so generous, haha. The charcoal beneath the grill was powerful, so the meat cooked up deliciously in no time. The portion itself was plentiful, with large rib bones still attached!

The marinade was not overly sweet and the meat was tender—just insanely delicious, seriously ><

Rich galbitang packed with short-rib meat

The galbitang had seriously so much short-rib meat in it! The broth was deep and rich, and from the first spoonful it felt like everything inside me relaxed. I highly recommend it as a meal!

I had driven, so I made do with a refreshing Coke for a little cheers and happily enjoyed my meal.

Dessert from mul naengmyeon to coffee and puffed-rice ice cream

One of Manpo Garden's best perks! When you have meat, dessert naengmyeon is provided! We refreshed our palates with chilled mul naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles in broth) topped with little ice crystals and left on a happy note!

Ta-da... the evidence of our food marathon.

There is ice and a café zone by the exit, so you can make yourself a refreshing iced Americano.

On top of that, they even had the full set: sweet ice cream and a machine where you can make your own nostalgic ppeong-scream, puffed-rice ice cream! Dessert perfection right to the end... Such a thoughtful touch from the owner that both adults and kids would love!

A large parking lot, a clean restaurant with rooms, reasonable prices, complimentary yukjeon and yukhoe, charcoal-grilled galbi with great heat, generous galbitang, complimentary dessert naengmyeon, and a full-course coffee-and-ppeong-scream dessert finale on the way out! I left completely satisfied with every part of Manpo Garden in Yangju—nothing was lacking! I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone near Yangju looking for a generous, great-value meat restaurant or a place to gather. This was already a repeat visit for me, but I am planning a repeat-repeat-repeat visit, hehe.
