“A Gimhae haejangguk and gamjatang spot where you can try gamjatang, pyeonyuk, and seasoned raw crab all at once.” “This lineup and flavor for this price is unreal.”

A gamjatang feast in Juchon, Gimhae

Today, I came to Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Juchon Branch for gamjatang for the first time in ages.

Exterior and parking

It already felt busy and bustling—such a proper local favorite vibe. Let’s head inside.

Dedicated free parking area in front of the restaurant

You can park right in front of the restaurant. The dedicated free parking was so convenient. There’s always a reason a popular restaurant does well, right?

Spacious interior and group room

Spacious and comfortable restaurant interior

The interior was very spacious and comfortable, with four-person tables too. You order everything through the kiosk on the table, and sometimes the owner serves you while other times a robot does.

There is also a separate room for group meals inside. It would be great for a company dinner too. So nice, right?

It was even a restaurant recognized by a Korean cuisine master... no wonder it was delicious. There are loads of other certificates on the wall too, so have a read through them one by one.

The dolsotbap (hot stone-pot rice) was waiting too. It is hard to find dolsotbap these days, so isn’t that great? Just seeing and hearing the rice cook makes your mouth water.

Gamjatang two-person set: menu and price

Gamjatang and haejangguk menu

There are haejangguk and gamjatang options, but the gamjatang two-person set is the signature. You get gamjatang, handmade pork-skin pyeonyuk (pressed sliced meat), and spicy seasoned raw crab all at once—for only ₩40,000.

Add just ₩2,000 and you can have dolsotbap too, so I recommend that combination. That is exactly what we ordered.

Side dishes and self-service bar

First, the basic sides arrived: kkakdugi radish kimchi, kimchi, onion, and chili peppers. There was also a sharp mustard-garlic sauce for dipping the meat—exactly the classic side dishes you want at a gamjatang restaurant.

If you need more, simply refill at the self-service bar. Total win!!!!

Notice for free gamjatang noodles

One serving of noodles for the gamjatang is free! Happy, happy.

The full spread finally arrived. Honestly, an all-time combination. The table legs looked ready to buckle.

Handmade pyeonyuk topped with garlic

First up, the pyeonyuk was wonderfully chewy, and the garlic on top was the key. It came already dressed with seasoning, so it was perfect for eating in one bite.

One bite of seasoned pyeonyuk

Apparently, the pyeonyuk is trimmed by hand and carefully made from scratch. They say it is a collagen bomb, so it is good for your skin too.

Next, the seasoned raw crab. Look how full of meat it is! You just hold it in your hands and suck it right out.

Meaty spicy seasoned raw crab

Ahh... just the right amount of spice and sweetness—such a rice thief. My girlfriend does not usually like marinated crab, but she said this one did not have a fishy taste and ate it really well.

Sweet and spicy seasoned raw crab

Now for the gamjatang. It was full of glass noodles, and there were seriously so many bones.

Working the meat off the bones. The meat was incredibly tender and there was so much of it that we ate until we were stuffed. Wow, look at all that meat. Dip that tender goodness in the sauce and it is amazing.

Tender gamjatang meat

We added a serving of ramen noodles too. That familiar flavor is dangerously good.

We also ordered dolsotbap. You absolutely have to scoop out the rice and make sungnyung (scorched-rice tea) in the pot. This is nourishment right here... it felt like everything settled comfortably in my stomach, and I loved it. Like I had eaten a warm, healthy meal.

The sky was pretty, and I was so satisfied to enjoy gamjatang, seasoned raw crab, and pyeonyuk all in one meal. The gamjatang had substantial bones and meat, and its broth was wonderfully rich. Since it is run by a Korean cuisine master, visit with confidence!
