Why I got tone-down dye after leaving my roots for over a year

Between pregnancy and childbirth, it has been well over a year since I touched my hair. I usually dye it dark brown to keep my tone, but this time my roots had grown out like crazy 🙃 So I searched hard for root dye and tone-down dye near Nowon Station and ended up at Yeum Hair Nowon District Office branch.

Parking at Yeum Hair is paid, so I recommend using the cheaper Nowon District Office car park, or taking public transport like I did!

My first impression of Yeum Hair Nowon District Office branch was that it was super clean and trendy! The layout is set up so customers are comfortable, so I didn't run into other people much, and I could see the Nowon Station scenery out the window.

This is how my hair looked before the tone-down dye 🤯 After dyeing it, pregnancy and childbirth meant I couldn't touch it for almost 2 years, so my roots had grown way, way down. The ends had also lost all their dye and turned a really light color.

How the consultation and dyeing went for my patchy hair

At Yeum Hair Nowon District Office branch, they used hair swatches to show my current condition and the recommended color after dyeing, asked in detail what tone I wanted, then applied the tone dye to match roots and ends in three separate passes. I put my hair in the hands of the Yeum Hair senior designer! At salons I usually get scolded before we start (?), and my hair's condition deserved a scolding, but she explained everything so kindly and asked in detail about the style I wanted.

She brought over hair swatches and asked about my current condition, the recommended color after dyeing, and exactly what tone I wanted. I asked for a tone between my roots and my ends, but not too light 🙌

Because my roots had grown out so much and this was an all-over tone dye, she applied the dye in three passes. I have really thick hair with lots of damaged parts, so it must have been tough, yet she smiled and applied the dye with quick hands. My hair normally takes a long time because of how thick it is, so being this fast, wow!

It had been so long since my last root dye that I was super excited to see if the color would turn out well >.< Every so often the senior designer checked how the color was developing and applied extra dye as needed. So attentive and thorough, the best 👍👍

Is the waiting time while the dye sets boring?

The waiting time after the dye was applied wasn't boring at all! There are phone holders and phone chargers, and thoughtfully, chargers with all 3 pin types. I had to head to an appointment right after, and my phone got fully charged. Being a Nowon Station salon, the view of the station outside the window was great too, and watching it was surprisingly fun. It felt like being in a café near Nowon Station >.<

The shampoo area at Yeum Hair Nowon District Office branch is so comfortable that I almost fell asleep while getting my hair washed. That chair plus the designer's touch is just unbelievably relaxing!!! She explained things in detail while washing and kept asking whether anything felt uncomfortable.

Then I moved over for the clinic treatment. She told me I could relax in the massage chair during it, so I was really looking forward to it, and the space is private-feeling, like getting special treatment. That massage chair... I ended up falling asleep. It massages your whole body, so my fatigue just melted away. My hair got its clinic treatment in the meantime, and it was the best time. And then the big moment, blow-drying!!! I was so curious whether the color had turned out well. Since I'm rich in hair volume, drying must have been hard for the designer too, but she dried my hair without any sign of struggle.

Also, when I said I was going straight to an appointment, she dried my hair and styled it too. I don't usually have bangs, so how to part my hair was a worry, and she even coached me on styling, which touched me 👏👏 Coming in for root dye and leaving with styling too...

The result of the tone-down dye at Yeum Hair Nowon District Office branch: the roots brightened up nicely and the ends were toned down to a classy shade, giving an even brown with no patchiness. Ta-da! The tone-down dye turned out a total success. My hair was so patchy that I assumed some patchiness would remain after dyeing, but you can't tell at all. I loved it 🤎

Doesn't the tone look so even? I felt proud of the rich brown it turned out. On top of that, the clinic was so good that my hair felt better after dyeing. After dyeing, my hair always got so damaged that it wouldn't even comb through, but Yeum Hair's clinic works really well, and my hair actually feels swishy and smooth.

I went straight to my appointment after the root dye, and I kept looking in the mirror because the tone looked consistent in both sunlight and indoor lighting! My appointment happened to be at Nowon Station too, and so was the salon, so it was super convenient, what a location,, When I got home, my husband said the color was so pretty, the most natural and pretty brown I've ever had >< It had been so long since I'd dyed, and I was really worried about whether the color would take or look patchy, but the tone-down dye was a perfect success.
