At Wonder Coffee Bar Yeokgok, a low-acidity iced americano came with three financiers (salted chocolate, salted caramel and macadamia), and the mild coffee supported the desserts without overpowering them. Jjambbong Jijon Bucheon Jungdong Branch is a Chinese restaurant specializing in made-to-order jjambbong (spicy seafood noodle soup) on Jungdong-ro, near Bucheon City Hall in Gyeonggi. At Jjambbong Jijon, the writer ordered sundubu (soft tofu) jjambbong and sujebi (hand-torn dough flake) jjambbong together to compare the silky tofu with the chewy dough, and also used the free black rice refills, the coffee and drink self-bar and the parking support. Jjambbong Jijon is a good pick when you want a fiery jjambbong with a texture other than noodles.
Cheesewave Bucheon City Hall is a pizza restaurant on Seokcheon-ro 184beon-gil in Wonmi-gu, Bucheon, near Bucheon City Hall, and the Cheesewave brand reportedly started at UPP in Itaewon. On this visit the order was a set of hot pepperoni pizza, fries and a drink, and thanks to the 48-hour aged dough and cheese filled right to the end of the crust, several slices went down without feeling heavy. Oi Samgyetang Bucheon Main Branch (오이삼계탕 부천본점) is a samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) restaurant on Jomaru-ro in Wonmi-gu, Bucheon, serving herbal samgyetang, ot-gyetang (lacquer tree chicken soup) and neungi mushroom samgyetang, among others. The writer ate an earthenware pot of samgyetang heaped with sliced scallions, alternating the mild broth and tender chicken with cucumber, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) and soy-pickled sides. With a waiting area and a parking lot, Oi Samgyetang Bucheon Main Branch is a good pick when you need a hearty restorative meal.
Cham Dwaejitgan (참돼짓간 부천신중동점) is a 24-hour Korean BBQ restaurant in Sinjungdong, Wonmi-gu, Bucheon, where staff grill the pork belly and pork neck for you. In the black-toned dining room, the writer ordered 2 portions of pork belly and 1 portion of pork neck on the table tablet and paired them with spicy sauce, mushroom wasabi, garlic scapes and lettuce wraps. Cham Dwaejitgan is a good pick for trying several cuts and sauces while chatting with friends instead of watching the grill.
Suljogeombam Bucheon City Hall branch is a cozy food-focused pub in Jungdong, Bucheon, near City Hall Station. On this visit the writer ordered the cheese squid whole pork belly with draft beer, and the pork belly, squid and cheese worked well together in a portion generous enough for two, served in a warm, wood-toned room. Suljogeombam Bucheon City Hall branch is a Jungdong pub worth remembering for a date, a night out with friends or a second round.
P&Chick is a pizza and fried chicken restaurant on the ground floor of We've the State in Sinjung-dong, Bucheon, and its menu also covers pork cutlet and pasta. The writer alternated bites of a jalapeño pepperoni pizza and crispy fried chicken from the P&Chick set with a cola, and the spicy pizza and crunchy chicken never tasted the same. If you can't choose between pizza and chicken, or want to bring wine for dinner under corkage, P&Chick is a solid pick.
Oi Samgyetang Bucheon Main Branch (오이삼계탕 부천본점) is a samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) restaurant on Jomaru-ro in Sangdong, Bucheon. There was still a wait a little after the lunch rush, but guests sit in a dedicated first-floor waiting room with tea, and the herbal mung bean samgyetang had a mild, easygoing herbal scent. With free cucumber side dish refills, ginseng wine on request and fast table turnover, Oi Samgyetang makes for a comfortable meal even with a wait.
Glory Works is a Chinese restaurant on Gilju-ro in Sangdong, Bucheon, Gyeonggi. On this visit the only order was one bowl of algoni jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup with fish roe and pollack milt), eaten slowly for the fiery broth, the soft roe, and the chewy milt. Glory Works is worth a stop when plain jjamppong has started to feel boring.
Gyeoretsu Ramen Bucheon University Branch is a Japanese ramen restaurant in an alley near Bucheon Station in Bucheon, Gyeonggi. The iekei ramen here builds a soy-sauce base on pork-bone broth, and it arrives with large sheets of nori, chashu, spinach and green onion to add a little at a time after the first sip of broth. If you prefer a thick, heavy broth and fat, springy noodles to a light clear soup, the iekei ramen at Gyeoretsu Ramen is a good match.
