Samsong BBQ with visible charcoal room and spicy sundubu: Neopttakjip
In short
Neopttakjip Samsong Branch is a retro, old-school Korean BBQ restaurant specializing in special pork cuts, 100m from Samsong Station Exit 3 in Goyang, Gyeonggi. The writer ordered the mixed grill with grilled vegetables for two, spicy hangover sundubu (soft tofu stew) and rice, grilling pork neck, kkodeulsal, hayansal and pork belly in that order, and the visible charcoal-lighting room and meat aging fridge made Neopttakjip feel trustworthy. I always noticed a crowd whenever I passed by, so I finally got to check off Neopttakjip Samsong Branch! These days there are so many BBQ restaurants that it's hard to be truly impressed, but I kept going 'wow' the whole meal here, so I think I'll be back soon. Let me introduce Neopttakjip Samsong Branch, which won me over instantly!
Where is Neopttakjip Samsong Branch, and what are the hours and parking like?
Neopttakjip Samsong Branch is on the 1st floor of 63 Dongsong-ro, Deogyang-gu, Goyang, open daily 12:00–23:00. Walk 100m straight from Samsong Station Exit 3 and it's on your right!
With a Naver reservation, you get one serving of pork skin or a drink on the house. Waits can happen at any time, so I'd recommend booking through Naver Reservation and grabbing that pork skin or drink!
For parking, just park in the Jun Plaza building where Neopttakjip is located — there's a passage that connects directly to the restaurant!
Exterior — retro old-school vibes
I arrived at Neopttakjip Samsong Branch! The exterior had that retro old-school feel through and through, catching my eye from a distance. Near the entrance there was a banner of the signature menu, which got me excited before I even walked in! The waiting chairs made from red beer crates were memorable too!

Interior — waiting log, charcoal room, and aging fridge
I stepped inside! True to a popular spot, there was a waiting log right at the front. Waits at lunch and dinner can be long, so I'd suggest calling ahead or booking via Naver Reservation!

Inside, there were seats ranging from 4-person tables to group rooms, which looked great for families, and the tables were spaced wide enough to be ideal for a company dinner too! I loved how open and spacious the place felt! You could also see the charcoal-lighting room and the separate meat aging area, which added a real sense of trust!
Menu and self-serve bar setup

Looking at the menu, the lineup was really solid — from Sancheong black pork raw ribs to a mixed plate of specialty cuts like pork neck, pork belly, hayansal and kkodeulsal. Side menus like ramyeon, perilla oil makguksu (cold noodles), and fried rice were great to pair with the meat too. If you take part in the Naver receipt review, they give you a free spicy ramyeon, pork skin, or drink, so don't miss that event when you visit!
The self-serve bar had basic side dishes and lettuce wraps! Since all the basic banchan (side dishes) were there and tasted great, being able to help yourself to as much as you wanted was such a plus!
Table setting — two scallion salads and macaroni quail egg salad

The table setting came with scallion salad (pepper version and seasoned version), aged kimchi, three sauces (sesame oil, pepper, salt), and a macaroni quail egg salad! The macaroni quail egg salad was so tasty I kept eating it before the meat even arrived! Both versions of the scallion salad were delicious too, making me want to dig into the meat right away!
Mixed grill and grilled vegetables (for two) — the grilling order

We ordered the mixed grill and grilled vegetables for two! Staff kindly told us to grill in the order of pork neck, kkodeulsal, hayansal, then pork belly. The cuts looked thick and fresh — so appetizing! The grilled vegetables included onion, mushroom, and sweet potato. They looked so fresh I wanted to eat them right away too!

Staff put the pork neck on the grill for us! It was so thick and looked amazing. I'd never seen such a big cut of pork neck before, so I wasn't sure how to slice it! You just place the grilled vegetables on the side grill plate at Neopttakjip and cook them together!
Meal course — spicy hangover sundubu and rice
For the meal, we ordered spicy hangover sundubu (soft tofu stew) with rice! It's not easy to find a place where both the meat and the meal dishes are great, but the sundubu jjigae was so tasty too! With sausage, thick chunks of meat, and big pieces of soft tofu, it was spicy and perfect for curing a hangover! The rice even came out in its own bowl with a surprising presentation — you could tell they put extra care into it compared to regular rice. The grains tasted really good!
What I loved about Neopttakjip Samsong Branch
Clean, comfortable, retro-style space
From the exterior to the interior, the hip old-school retro vibe really comes through, while still offering everything from 4-person tables to group rooms. The space is spacious with comfortable table spacing, making it great for dates as well as family gatherings or company dinners.
Trustworthy meat quality and a well-rounded menu
Seeing the charcoal-lighting room and meat aging fridge firsthand builds real confidence, and beyond pork belly and pork neck, you can enjoy various specialty cuts like hayansal and kkodeulsal together. The fresh grilled vegetables and freely usable self-serve bar rounded things out nicely.
Side dishes that pair perfectly with meat, and a standout meal course
From the two versions of scallion salad (pepper and seasoned) to the macaroni quail egg salad, the basic banchan keeps you reaching for more. In particular, the spicy hangover sundubu is packed with thick meat, sausage, and big chunks of soft tofu, making it perfect for curing a hangover, with even the rice texture standing out.
Friendly service and worthwhile perks
The staff's kindness in guiding the best order to grill each cut was a given! It was also great being able to grab solid perks like pork skin, spicy ramyeon, or a drink through Naver Reservation or receipt reviews.
