Our family's all-time favorite meal out is pork ribs, and this time we visited Galbigumteo Pungmu Station Branch (갈비굼터 풍무역점), a barbecue place in Pungmu-dong. The charcoal-grilled domestic pork ribs were really delicious and the owner was kind too. The atmosphere is great for a family meal, so it's a place we want to go back to ^^

I ordered 3 servings of the domestic homemade pork ribs, plus steamed egg, rice and bibim naengmyeon.

Side dishes, pickled onions and lettuce wraps
The basic side dishes at Galbigumteo Pungmu Station Branch came out neat and simple: jangajji (pickled vegetables), white kimchi and fruit salad. The jangajji and white kimchi go well with meat, and the fresh fruit salad was good too. Every one of them was tasty, and eating them with the pork ribs cut the richness nicely.

Pickled onions, a perfect match for pork ribs, came out too. They were piled generously in a big bowl, and you can easily get a refill if you run out. The tangy pickled onions cut the richness of the ribs, so we could enjoy them to the very end.

The wrap vegetables were fresh too: lettuce, perilla leaves, chili peppers and garlic, everything you need, so it was great for making big, hearty wraps.
Rainy-day pajeon from the self-bar batter
The self-bar at Galbigumteo Pungmu Station Branch has pajeon (Korean savory pancake) batter ready, so you can fry your own.

It's been raining a lot lately and I'd been craving pajeon, so I was really happy to fry it warm myself at the self-bar. Freshly made, it was crispy and nutty, and we enjoyed it while waiting for the meat.

How do 3 servings of homemade pork ribs taste?
The domestic homemade pork ribs at Galbigumteo Pungmu Station Branch had no gamey smell at all, and the marinade wasn't harsh. The pork ribs we ordered finally arrived, and maybe because it was 3 servings, the portion was generous. They looked so appetizing that my mouth watered just looking at them.

The owner kindly showed us how to grill the meat, and thanks to that we ate it at its best. At the first bite there was no gamey smell at all and the marinade wasn't harsh, so it was really good. The ribs were tender, so I think anyone from kids to adults would enjoy them.

Steamed egg and the free doenjang stew
The steamed egg we ordered alongside was good too. It was fluffy and soft, with just the right seasoning, so it went really well with the pork ribs.

The savory doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) is served free at Galbigumteo Pungmu Station Branch, and it was packed with tofu and vegetables, with a rich, tasty broth.

Bibim naengmyeon with icy broth poured over it
The bibim naengmyeon (₩9,000) at Galbigumteo Pungmu Station Branch comes with a separate cup of cold, slushy icy broth. I'd been getting only mul naengmyeon lately, but that day I somehow wanted bibim naengmyeon more. So I ordered it this time, and pouring the broth over it felt like eating bibim naengmyeon and mul naengmyeon at the same time, which made it even better.

The pork ribs were really good wrapped in vegetables too, and even better eaten with the bibim naengmyeon.

Finishing with nurungji from the self-bar
The self-bar at Galbigumteo Pungmu Station Branch also had nurungji (scorched rice), and a warm bowl after the meal settled my stomach and left me feeling full and happy.
If you're looking for tasty pork ribs in Pungmu-dong, Gimpo, I'd recommend Galbigumteo Pungmu Station Branch. Besides the domestic homemade pork ribs, there were generous side dishes, a self-bar, pajeon you fry yourself and nurungji, so there was plenty to eat and the whole family was satisfied. It's a Pungmu-dong barbecue place we'd love to visit again ^^
