Seongnam shopping mall running shoe pop-up: DARIMATI BR-001

The reason I drop by Hyundai Department Store Pangyo like it’s my local mill? There are always interesting little pop-up stores to explore whenever I go!! This time, a DARIMATI running shoe pop-up had opened right in front of the fourth-floor escalator, so I zipped right over.

DARIMATI is probably a brand on the rise among people interested in running or CrossFit ⭐️ It’s a Korean athletic-shoe brand with the unique(?) history of launching in the US first, gaining popularity there, and then expanding into Korea. The shoes in the photo are its main product: ✅ DARIMATI BR-001. I looked them up because I was curious, and apparently they’ve been recognized by specialist US running-shoe review outlets and are quite well known among overseas runners. So precious that they came to Pangyo 🥹

It was a fairly spacious space for a pop-up, so browsing and trying on shoes felt comfortable. Above all, this giant haha rowing machine really caught my eye. ⭐️⭐️ You can try it yourself, and the 30-second rowing-machine race challenge event is in full swing too! ✔️

A simple design that also catches the eye for everyday wear

The design itself is simple and clean, which gives it that effortlessly styled feeling in a big way—such a cool item,, ⚽️ Honestly, it felt more premium in person, enough that you could absolutely wear it as an everyday shoe, not just for workouts or running. 😆

How were the light weight and grip?

What surprised me most was the grip and weight of each pair 🫜 Whether it’s CrossFit or running, even if a shoe holds your foot well, once it starts feeling heavy, you subtly become reluctant to put it on next time. But these were practically featherweight. Even while listening to the staff member’s explanation, I kept muttering, “They’re so light,” haha 🤣

The combination of magazines and running

Another experience I loved at the DARIMATI pop-up was the magazines! 📚 The brand’s CEO loves books and running, and I heard the brand also collaborates with Paper Magazine Club. This combination of magazines and exercise itself felt so stylish and on-trend. 🌻

Trying on gray silver and beige together

My husband and I tried on DARIMATI running shoes together. I wore gray silver in 240, while he tried beige in 280 ✔️ True to size fit well enough, but they do run a little roomy, so if you usually wear sizes in five-unit increments, going down half a size should be fine. 👍

My feet aren’t especially narrow either, but they held my feet securely overall while being incredibly light, so my feet didn’t feel like they were lifting inside the shoe? ☀️

What we both noticed while trying them on was how surprisingly they helped us keep our balance as our feet touched down and lifted off the ground, and how broad the supportive surface felt. Is this what a performance shoe is like,, 📸 Even during that brief try-on walk, there was much less strain when my ankle bent. 🤩
