Family dinner for five at a Suwon City Hall sushi buffet: Kuu Kuu Gold

I'd heard that Kuu Kuu, which I'd visited once before, had been refurbished, so I went back with my family for the first time in a while. This time it was a weekday dinner for five: four adults and one child. The range was huge, from sushi and seafood to grilled dishes and desserts, and everyone from the grown-ups to the kid was happy. What stuck with me most? The unlimited beer and wine!

Where is Kuu Kuu Gold Suwon City Hall Branch, and how is the parking?

Kuu Kuu Gold Suwon City Hall Branch (쿠우쿠우 골드 수원시청점) is at 11 Gwongwang-ro 139beon-gil, Gwonseon-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi, 2nd floor, open daily 11:00–21:30 (last order 20:30). You can use the building's underground parking, and if B2 is full, just head straight down to B3.

It's inside the Suwon City Hall building, so it wasn't hard to find. We went down to B2 and there were hardly any spots, and I thought, 'Uh... is parking going to be okay today?' haha. Worried, we kept going to B3 and... what? Haha, B3 was almost completely empty. I wish we'd come down sooner.

The parking area is pretty spacious, so there's little parking stress when you go to eat. When you're moving around with a big group like a family gathering, that matters more than you'd think, right? haha

As soon as you go in, give the name on your reservation!! And you're in!! There's a waiting area too, but we came early and got in right away haha. Once inside, a staff member shows you to your seat~~

To drink beer and wine at Kuu Kuu Gold Suwon City Hall Branch, you first need to get your age verified at the counter. After sitting down, take your bill to the counter (you're not paying yet), and they check your ID and give you a wristband haha

I'd been to Kuu Kuu before, so I went in with slightly raised expectations after hearing about the refurbishment. The moment I walked in, it was much cleaner and roomier than I expected, which surprised me a little. First, sit down!! Then there's somewhere you have to go!! The counter. You need to tap this wristband later to get beer and wine..^^

The biggest strength of Kuu Kuu Gold Suwon City Hall Branch is probably the wide variety of dishes. There was a broad selection centered on sushi and seafood, and

It didn't feel like variety for variety's sake; it felt like they'd put together dishes people like these days.

If you're looking for a good sushi place in Inge-dong, being able to try many kinds of sushi in one spot is quite appealing. There was shrimp, fish, rolls and more, and picking them one by one was fun. Bringing a bit of everything on one plate also made it easy for each person in a group to choose what they like.

Adults pick seafood or sushi, the kid brings whatever they like... since everyone can eat what they want, I thought it'd work well as a family restaurant. With buffet sushi, a big selection can still disappoint once you taste it, but this day it was decently satisfying overall.

Noodle, salad, fruit and dessert corners

Besides sushi, Kuu Kuu Gold Suwon City Hall Branch has a noodle corner and a salad corner, so deciding what to eat was a real dilemma haha

Rather than focusing on just one or two dishes, it was fun to taste lots of different things in small amounts. There was a huge range of fruit too!! And~~~~ there was ice cream too!! haha

Lots of desserts, and!! there were ones kids love, so my nephew was super~~ happy!

How do you use the unlimited beer and wine?

Kuu Kuu Gold Suwon City Hall Branch had lots of drinks too! From milk tea to sikhye (sweet rice punch), there was every drink you can think of!!

Of course there's coffee and tea too, so I couldn't decide what to start with haha. But since they say wine and beer are here, I'm going to grab some haha

At the beer and wine corner, you tap the wristband you got at the counter earlier, like this^^

Super easy, right~ The red wine was actually pretty good with sushi too!

The self-grill zone

In the grill zone at Kuu Kuu Gold Suwon City Hall Branch, you can grill meat, shrimp and more yourself. This was the space that impressed me most this visit. Meat at a buffet is nothing new, but having a separate area to grill it yourself felt different.

The meat and shrimp came in a super~~ wide variety!! Just grill whatever you want to eat yourself haha. After a few plates of sushi, grilling meat suddenly changed the whole mood of the meal lol

If you only eat sushi you can get tired of it quickly, but mixing in meat from time to time let me enjoy even more flavors. Especially with family, kids can eat their own things while adults enjoy meat or seafood, so the choice is wide, which I liked.

My overly greedy first plate and the taste verdict

At Kuu Kuu Gold Suwon City Hall Branch I mainly picked sushi and seafood, and the overall flavor balance was decent and nicely done. Shall we look at my first plate?? At first I'd arranged it prettily, but when I brought it to the table to take a photo... I'd gotten so greedy lol. I'd stacked it two or three layers high haha ugh..haha

It seems like the best value comes when you taste small amounts of many kinds rather than eating lots of one thing. Each sushi topping has a slightly different texture and flavor, so it was fun to eat one and then grab another kind. The rice-to-topping combination wasn't heavy either, so it was good for trying a bit of everything.

Above all, when I search for a sushi place in Inge-dong, I like places that specialize only in sushi, but when going with family, how varied the other dishes are matters too. In that respect, Kuu Kuu Gold Suwon City Hall Branch does well here~

Verdict: a Suwon sushi buffet for multi-generation family meals

It had been a while since my last Kuu Kuu visit, and from sushi and seafood to meat, sides and desserts, picking was fun, and with beer and wine on top it was especially convenient for a family meal. If you're looking for a sushi place in Inge-dong, a sushi buffet where you can enjoy lots of different dishes together, or a Suwon sushi buffet for a multi-generation meal, it's worth a look.

Family meals really are easiest when it's a place everyone is happy with, not just one person.
