Pyongyang naengmyeon and Korean pork slices near Pyeongtaek Station

I came to Seoul Myeonok (서울면옥), a great naengmyeon (cold noodle) spot near Pyeongtaek Station, at the request of the meat-loving teenager in our family~! Why take a meat lover to Seoul Myeonok, you ask~! The noodles are delicious, of course, but the Korean pork slices here are seriously amazing too ㅠㅠ

Visit to Seoul Myeonok, a naengmyeon restaurant near Pyeongtaek Station

They are open every day from 11:30 AM to 8 PM, with a break from 3 PM to 4 PM, so keep that in mind~! Last orders are at 7:30 PM too~! We actually arrived at 7 and were eating, but people who came at 7:30 had to leave because last orders were already over ㅠㅠ

Since they make their own noodles, there was flour stacked like this at the entrance and inside the restaurant~! I absolutely love noodles, especially house-made ones~! So I tend to seek out restaurants serving udon, noodles, or naengmyeon~! The chewiness really is different~! All right, let’s order~!

Ordering Pyongyang naengmyeon, bibim naengmyeon, and pork slices

Since it is known for Pyongyang naengmyeon, naturally that was first on the order~! One Pyongyang naengmyeon and an extra-large bibim naengmyeon~! The large size costs an extra ₩1,000, for ₩12,000.

And we ordered a full plate of domestic pork slices too. I had visited once before and tried it, and it was so tender and delicious~! I ordered a half portion then, but it was so good that it was not enough, so this time we got a full plate~!

While we waited for the food, we could drink warm broth, so I got my appetite going with a nice warm cup.

They bring out basic side dishes, and this seasoned pollock? It is seriously so delicious ㅠㅠ It goes well with the pork slices and is a perfect match for bibim naengmyeon too~! Put it on top of the bibim naengmyeon and it is like hoe naengmyeon (raw-fish cold noodles)!!! Owner, please keep bringing this forever and ever~! Yes, please~!

Domestic Korean pork slices kept warm to the last bite

And finally, the full plate of pork slices arrived~! The plating was different when I ordered a half portion, but for a full plate, they prepare it like this so you can enjoy it warm all the way through~!

Ah, it really was so delicious~! That tender, soft, clean flavor~! Our teenager piled salted shrimp on top and ate a hearty amount too~! These are Seoul Myeonok’s pork slices, approved by a meat-loving teenager haha

Extra-large bibim naengmyeon loaded with brisket

Can you see that brisket topping on the extra-large bibim naengmyeon? At places that make a truly proper broth, the meat used for the broth comes out as a generous topping like this~! Seeing it really made me think once again that Seoul Myeonok does Pyongyang naengmyeon properly~! And the taste? What more is there to say? It is spicy enough to feel bold, yet somehow settles comfortably in your stomach~! So delicious ㅠㅠ

Clean broth and springy Pyongyang naengmyeon

And then there is Seoul Myeonok’s Pyongyang naengmyeon, which I have completely fallen for~! So much cold broth~!!! You know Pyongyang naengmyeon is originally a winter food, right? I was already excited to try it in winter too~~!!

I tasted the broth first, gave everything a good stir, and tried the noodles~! The springy noodles and clean broth filling my mouth—this is happiness! I had overeaten at lunch that day, so I was craving something mildly seasoned and light~! As expected, it was exactly the right choice~!

Can you see that steam? It kept rising until the very last bite, making the texture even more tempting, and the taste? What more is there to say~! I am definitely on team warm pork slices lol. Tender and soft~! Plus, these were chilled Korean pork slices, so what, any gamey smell? Not at all—I cleaned the plate right to the end~!

Finished every last bite of Hamheung naengmyeon and bibim naengmyeon too~! If you want a light but protein-filled dinner, I recommend Seoul Myeonok, a great naengmyeon spot near Pyeongtaek Station~!
