Today I was on a date in Seongsu and wanted to grab lunch together. Seongsu has plenty of cafés and concept stores, but when you actually need something filling for a date, picking a spot can be surprisingly tricky. I was craving a burger, so I looked up the best burger spots in Seongsu and ended up at bd Burger.

Where is bd Burger Yeonmujang-gil and when is it open?

What is the second-floor dining room like?
bd Burger Seongsu Station Yeonmujang-gil is on the 2nd floor, and once inside, it was bigger and cleaner than I expected. The overall atmosphere was relaxed, so it was nice for an unhurried meal.

It seemed comfortable for eating alone and just as easy for a group, so it works well for lots of different situations.

What is on the self-bar at bd Burger?
On one side there was a self-bar stocked with everything you'd need, which made things convenient. Ketchup, plates, forks, knives, wet wipes, even disposable gloves — you just grab whatever you need while eating. Especially for a big burger, having disposable gloves made it easy to just pick it up and eat with your hands.

Ordering: prepay at the table kiosk
Ordering was simple through the kiosk at the table. Since it's a prepay system where you pay right after choosing your menu, you can handle ordering and payment in one go without leaving your seat. Once your food is ready, an alert shows up on the kiosk and you pick it up yourself, and after eating you drop off your dishes at the spot next to the self-bar. It's a self-service style with your own ordering and pickup, so it wasn't complicated at all and was easy to use.

How the weekday lunch set discount works
One more thing I liked was that bd Burger Seongsu Station Yeonmujang-gil applies a lunch set discount on weekday lunches. I wanted to enjoy a set rather than just a burger, and being able to get it at a discounted price during weekday lunch hours made it feel a lot less pricey than expected. Seongsu meals and café visits can sometimes feel expensive, so if you visit on a weekday, using the lunch set could let you eat a bit more affordably. If you're like me, wanting to eat well and explore around Seongsu on a date, timing your visit for weekday lunch seems like a good idea.

What we ordered at bd Burger
- 🍔🍟 Double Cheese Burger set (butter garlic fries + milkshake)
- Big-size Wasabi Shrimp Burger set (eggplant fries + Zero Coke)

Big-size Wasabi Shrimp Burger
While looking over the menu, the Wasabi Shrimp Big Burger caught my eye first. I generally love shrimp burgers, so I ordered it without hesitation, and once I got it, I immediately understood why 'big burger' was in the name.

When it actually arrived, it was quite a bit bigger than I expected. It already looked big in photos, but in hand it had real weight to it, and the filling inside looked generous too.

And once I tasted it, the shrimp were really generous, which I loved. Rather than being finely minced, the shrimp kept a springy, bouncy texture, so every bite had that unmistakable shrimp bounce and flavor. The outside was fried crisp, so the first bite was crunchy, while the inside was moist with that same bouncy shrimp texture, and the contrast worked really well. On top of that, the crunchy cabbage salad added even more freshness to the crispy, juicy shrimp patty.
I was a little worried the wasabi might be too sharp, but it turned out to be pretty mild and not overwhelming at all. If anything, it cut through the richness of the shrimp patty nicely and added a slight kick that paired well with the shrimp. Since the burger itself is big-sized, one bite really fills your mouth. Between the generous shrimp patty and the cabbage salad, it was filling the whole way through — plenty for a full meal.

Butter garlic cheese fries
And the Butter Garlic Cheese Fries we ordered as a side can't go unmentioned. The butter garlic cheese sauce was piled generously on top of the fries. They were so generous with the sauce that I never felt like there wasn't enough while eating. The strong garlic aroma combined with the thick butter sauce and cheese for a salty, savory flavor that came through quite intensely. The fries were already crispy and seasoned, and with all that sauce on top, they had a completely different appeal from plain fries. Personally, it was a side that paired really well with the burger too.

At first, since the burger was the main event, I didn't expect much from the sides, but once I tried them, they were way tastier than expected. It was the first time I thought a side dish could be this good.

Eggplant fries
Crispy outside, moist inside — exactly that crunchy-outside, soft-inside feeling. The eggplant's own soft texture came through too, and dipping it in the spicy chipotle sauce that came with it cut the richness while making a nice flavor combo.

Double Cheese Burger for someone who can't eat shrimp
My date isn't really into shrimp, so I was a bit worried when it came to picking a menu, but luckily they had a Double Cheese Burger, so we ordered that right away.

Double the cheese, double the patty, so it was generous, and the meat patty was juicy and full of flavor rather than dry. Just from the cross-section you could tell the patty was moist, and with the double patty it looked pretty filling at a glance. Ordering different menus and sharing bites made it fun to compare each flavor. Since there's a range of menu choices, it works out fine even when one person loves shrimp and the other can't eat it at all, making it a good spot for a date meal.
