Today I really, really wanted pork galbi. And when I want it that badly, I want to eat it at a proper place, so I headed straight for the Choryang pork rib alley in Busan. Among the restaurants in that alley, I picked one with especially good reviews, and true to being a well-known Choryang spot, the alley itself had a distinct vibe. So here's the full story of the Choryang restaurant I ended up at — Choryang Hyeongje Galbi.

Where is Choryang Hyeongje Galbi, and how far is it from Choryang Station?

Choryang Hyeongje Galbi is on the 1st floor of 15-4 Choryang-ro, Dong-gu, Busan, inside the Choryang pork rib alley. It's a 7-minute walk from Choryang Station, so easy to reach by public transport.

Inside Choryang Hyeongje Galbi: air conditioning and table service

The inside of Choryang Hyeongje Galbi was clean and pleasant. The air conditioning was cranked up, so I got to enjoy my meal feeling fresh and cool the whole time.

Halfway through the meal, the owner even came by to check whether it was too cold — that kind of careful attention made me feel really taken care of. The owner and staff were all so kind that it put me in a great mood. Thanks to that thoughtfulness, I got the impression this is one of the more comfortable Busan Choryang restaurants to spend time in.

Spacious hall seating suitable for group gatherings

The space is spacious, so it seems like a great spot for family gatherings, group meetups, or company dinners. The lighting was soft too, easy on the eyes.

Sitting in the Choryang pork rib alley, this place's signature pork galbi and raw galbi definitely stood out, as expected of a Choryang pork rib favorite.

The side menu was varied too — kimchi kalguksu, cold kimchi noodle soup, doenjang jjigae, seafood ramyeon — so there was plenty to choose from. It was fun just picking. The menu layout was clean and easy to read.

The table setting at Choryang Hyeongje Galbi was generous. Along with the basic side dishes, kimchi pancake and steamed egg came out too, which was great for curbing hunger while waiting for the meat.

Here's the delicious spread from Choryang Hyeongje Galbi. It was so generous I couldn't help but clap like a seal. With a spread like this, no wonder it's known as a Busan Choryang favorite.

Fresh, tidy, clean-looking side dishes started lining up on the table one after another. Each one was nicely seasoned and appetizing.

Scallion kimchi and kimchi, also sold separately

Among them, the kimchi and scallion kimchi were seriously amazing. The scallion kimchi is also sold separately. With the kimchi pancake and steamed egg too, it was more than enough to hold off hunger.

Two servings of bright red raw galbi on a plate

Raw galbi: 2 servings at 12,000 won each

I ordered 2 servings of raw galbi at Choryang Hyeongje Galbi. Each serving was 12,000 won. The bright red color looked gorgeous, a sign of really good quality meat. There was a faint charcoal aroma that added depth to the flavor.

Staff grilling raw galbi on the tabletop grill

A staff member kindly grilled the meat for me, so all I had to do was eat — so convenient. Meat really does taste best when a pro grills it. It came out much better than if I'd grilled it myself. That kind of careful touch felt like the real charm of a Choryang restaurant.

Grilled raw galbi cut into bite-sized pieces

It was cut into perfect bite-sized pieces, so easy to eat. As it grilled, a savory, gentle meaty aroma kept hitting my nose.

It was full of meaty flavor, savory and clean. Dipped in just salt, you could really taste the pure flavor of the galbi.

Marinated galbi: 2 servings, also 12,000 won each

I also ordered 2 servings of marinated galbi. The price was the same as raw galbi, 12,000 won each.

The marinade had soaked deep into the meat, salty and savory in the best way — so good.

This is really when the word 'honey-sweet' applies. Dipped in the sauce, it gets an extra hit of umami.

Finishing with 3,000-won doenjang jjigae and 5,000-won kimchi kalguksu

At Choryang Hyeongje Galbi, doenjang jjigae was 3,000 won and kimchi kalguksu was 5,000 won. The doenjang jjigae came in a pretty big pot with a generous portion — really great value.

Doenjang jjigae served in a large pot for 3,000 won

I ordered the doenjang jjigae, which was 3,000 won. The pot was quite large and the portion was really generous, making it great value. The rich, savory broth was genuinely touching.

Kimchi kalguksu loaded with kimchi

I ordered the kimchi kalguksu, which was 5,000 won. It was loaded with chili and kimchi, so it was spicy and hearty, with a well-balanced saltiness that suited my taste perfectly. The noodles themselves were steeped in deep anchovy flavor — it was so good, they could open a dedicated noodle shop.

Why Choryang Hyeongje Galbi is worth a second visit

At Choryang Hyeongje Galbi, the meat quality is great, the value is great, and the flavor is great — and even at checkout, the owner kindly asked if the food suited my taste and if anything was uncomfortable. That's a truly attentive, service-focused restaurant. I became convinced this ranks among the top Choryang pork rib favorites in Busan.

A Choryang restaurant that nailed both flavor and service, so my satisfaction was very high. That careful service is going to stick with me for a while. I'm definitely going back. It was a delicious meal.
