Shabu-shabu day drinking in Daeyeon, Busan: ₩9,900 kaljebi, Migsikga's

I had plans for daytime drinks with a friend I hadn't seen in ages, and while I was wondering where to meet, I heard there's a great meat restaurant in Daeyeon-dong, so off to Daeyeon I went!!

Migsikga's Grill & Shabu Daeyeon branch: hours and how to get there

Migsikga's Grill & Shabu Daeyeon branch is open every day from 11:00 to 22:00, with a break from 15:00 to 17:00. If you're planning daytime drinks or lunch, go before the break.

Come out of Daeyeon Station Exit 6, look to your right, and it's right there on the 2nd floor! We were surprised too at how close it is to the station, haha.

It's on the 2nd floor, so we head up the stairs like this. Trot trot!

Are the seats private?

Inside Migsikga's Grill & Shabu Daeyeon branch, each table is separated by partitions. They're not rooms, but you can eat in a slightly private setting, which I thought was really nice!

Shabu-shabu prices in Daeyeon: what we ordered

The spicy shabu kaljebi (shabu-shabu with knife-cut noodles and sujebi dough flakes) is ₩9,900 per person, and the bomb steamed egg is ₩3,000. Look at that price... even if you pay with ₩10,000 they give you ₩100 back. We ordered two servings of the ₩9,900 spicy shabu kaljebi and one ₩3,000 bomb steamed egg.

There are meat dishes as well as shabu, so ordering them together would be good too 😀

What is this service lineup?! They even have all kinds of medicine, hahahaha. Such a great touch 👍🏻

They're also running a receipt review event, so you might want to join in! They even have vitamins, what a thoughtful touch. From the menu to every corner of the shop, I noticed little considerate details.

What comes in the ₩9,900 shabu kaljebi?

Our shabu kaljebi arrived. It's packed with mushrooms and bean sprouts, and the minari (water dropwort) made it even more fragrant.

Shabu-shabu for two, plus porridge and kaljebi, and all of that is ₩9,900 per person. I'm amazed all over again!!

The ₩3,000 bomb steamed egg: do you have to order it?

I took one bite and the taste was just insane.. the cheese did it all! Super nutty and delicious. If you go to Migsikga's Grill & Shabu Daeyeon branch, the bomb steamed egg is only ₩3,000, so definitely order it!!

Daytime drinking with shabu-shabu

It's a daytime drinking date, so we ordered soju too, and the whole table is set ♥️

This chili sauce? Tabasco? I don't know what it is, but at shabu places this is the only sauce I eat. It's the tastiest, isn't it..!!

Let's add the meat and bring it to a bubbling boil.

Put the nicely cooked meat in your bowl, and once you're ready, before eating,

clink glasses and have a drink first, hahaha. Is a hair tie on the wrist a girls' golden rule or what??

After a drink, dip the meat in my favorite sauce and take a bite. The shabu-shabu meat had no gamey smell at all and was really tender. The chew was great too.

Extra meat and vegetable prices

Extra meat is ₩8,000 and extra vegetables are ₩5,000. We didn't have enough anju (drinking food).. so we added more right away, haha. I stuffed in the vegetables first and ate as if it were round one all over again.

What does the kaljebi noodle add-on taste like?

Once we'd eaten a fair amount, I added the kaljebi noodles. The noodles are thick, so I boiled them for a long, long time. It was my first time trying kaljebi, and before eating it I thought it looked like the tofu skin you get in malatang?? Kind of like that..??

Once cooked, I took a bite and the broth had soaked all the way into the noodles, so good. I'm not really a fan of adding noodles, but this kaljebi was so delicious. Even though I only boiled it briefly, the noodles were full of broth.

Finishing with porridge: my verdict on shabu-shabu in Daeyeon

Finally, we polished off the porridge too. Need I say more about the porridge? Of course it's delicious. I'm the kind of person who eats shabu-shabu just to get to the porridge.

If you're trying to choose a meat restaurant or shabu-shabu place in Daeyeon-dong, I recommend Migsikga's Grill & Shabu Daeyeon branch. It's great for a meal any time, lunch or dinner, and being right in front of Daeyeon Station, it's very easy to reach by public transport. Getting shabu-shabu plus kaljebi plus porridge for under ₩10,000 is really great in these days of high prices.
