A Chobok family meal at Maetdolroman Deungchon Branch near Yangcheonhyanggyo Station

Today?? For Chobok (the first of the three hottest days of summer), I went with my family to Maetdolroman (맷돌로만) Deungchon Branch, a well-known eatery near Yangcheonhyanggyo Station. It's only a 2-minute walk from Exit 6, so it's nice and close. Let me start the introduction ^^

Where do you park for Maetdolroman Deungchon Branch?

If you park at the Kyungdong Mirwell Yangcheonhyanggyo Officetel Phase 2, you get 2 hours of free parking. You can see the Maetdolroman tofu restaurant building right away, so it's easy to find haha.

I'd also recommend Maetdolroman Deungchon Branch as a meal stop near Seoul Botanic Garden. The road address is 166 Gangseo-ro 56ga-gil, Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Bldg 203, Units 113, 114, 115), and the lot-number address is 685 Deungchon-dong. The place is huge and wide, so you can spot it at a glance~~ A seriously recommended tofu restaurant in Gangseo-gu ㅎ

View of the spacious Maetdolroman Deungchon Branch

The summer-only kongguksu has just launched~ They say Maetdolroman's kongguksu is made with tofu ground by millstone every morning, with that old-fashioned flavor ^^

Maetdolroman Deungchon Branch is a tofu restaurant near Yangcheonhyanggyo Station that makes tofu and sundubu by millstone every morning, then cooks with it and sells it ^^

Entrance of the Maetdolroman Deungchon Branch tofu restaurant

Wow~ It's so popular that I've often had to wait, and now they even have chairs to make waiting comfortable haha.

You can see the giant millstone from the front before you even go in~~ At this Maetdolroman near Yangcheonhyanggyo, the owner grinds beans and makes the tofu himself every morning! And the beans are domestic, which I love~~ The sundubu and tofu are ground by hand and boiled in a cauldron with care, so this is my N-th revisit~

A Gayang-area favorite that also serves breakfast, Maetdolroman~

The sundubu is unlimited, which I love too~! The counter is visible as soon as you walk in, and the young owner greets you kindly haha.

They use truly domestic beans, soak them and grind them fresh every day, so of course it tastes good, right?? The tofu-making space is also super hygienic and clean haha.

Is the Maetdolroman dining room spacious and cool?

The inside of Maetdolroman Deungchon Branch is very wide and pleasant, and the tables are spaced well apart. It's summer, so I worried I'd get hot eating sundubu, but the AC is powerful lol, so don't worry.

All the tables are clean and well set haha. It was early evening so there were no customers yet, but right after I ordered and came out, people started pouring in. I heard many come here after visiting Seoul Botanic Garden nearby~

Does Maetdolroman Deungchon Branch give away free biji?

Maetdolroman Deungchon Branch gives away the biji (soy pulp) left over from making tofu for free. What a thoughtful touch~~~~ Taking biji home to make biji stew is fantastic, such a kind restaurant haha.

They even thoughtfully posted a biji stew recipe, so taking the biji home to make the stew is wonderful~~~

The country-of-origin board at Maetdolroman Deungchon Branch is also carefully written out, which was helpful~~ The cabbage is domestic too, nice~!

It's a real Yangcheonhyanggyo-area favorite that many celebrities have visited~ Just what you'd expect from Maetdolroman, famous by word of mouth as a Gangseo-gu tofu specialist!

Maetdolroman Deungchon Branch menu and side dishes

I took photos of the menu and prices at Maetdolroman Deungchon Branch~ There are so many kinds of sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew) that the choice is wide, which I liked~ There are also lots of side menu items like tofu jeongol (hot pot), tofu bossam (boiled pork with tofu), modubu (plain tofu block), tofu jorim (braised tofu) and kongbiji-jeon (soy pulp pancake), which is great

They say the side dishes are made every morning too!! Homey like home cooking, right~? Neat, clean and tasty~ We got cucumber kimchi, stir-fried zucchini, black soybean and peanut jorim, cabbage kimchi and stir-fried fish cake.

What is the unlimited sundubu self-serve corner like?

Maetdolroman Deungchon Branch has an unlimited sundubu self-serve corner, and it's amazing~ In these high-price times, such a kind restaurant gives so generously~

There's also ice and a coffee machine, so you can have iced coffee for dessert~

The sundubu is unlimited, which is so good~ You can scoop as much as you like, the best~!

Scooping unlimited sundubu into a bowl

Three of us visited today, so we scooped one portion per person, and it was as soft as pudding and delicious~~ Super nutty too~ It's even better with the seasoning sauce sprinkled on haha.

The benefits of Maetdolroman's fresh tofu are posted on the wall~~ It says it's good for children's brain development and for bone and muscle growth, and for preventing breast cancer, ovarian cancer, constipation, osteoporosis, prostate disease, dementia and heart disease, lowering cholesterol and slowing aging ^^

How did the kongguksu, cheonggukjang and oyster sundubu taste on Chobok?

Maetdolroman's summer-only kongguksu (cold soy milk noodles)

The newly launched Maetdolroman kongguksu!!!! Sprinkled with black sesame, so it looks even tastier haha. Cucumber on top makes it refreshing~ The noodles were springy and good~ Kongguksu is the best in summer, of course!!

Straw-fermented cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew)

We ordered cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) too~ Maetdolroman Deungchon Branch is a sundubu jjigae hotspot, but the cheonggukjang is one menu item you can't skip haha. Full of beans, with sliced zucchini too, great~ Packed with nutrition, the best!

They say the cheonggukjang at Maetdolroman Deungchon Branch is fermented by hand with straw, the old-fashioned way^^ It was so delicious last time that I ordered it again haha. A tofu specialty restaurant selling cheonggukjang, so of course it's really good~

They also give a generous bowl of rice, so you can fill up healthily and heartily, which I love.

Generous bowl of rice and stew on the table

Oyster sundubu stew with an egg cracked in

I ordered the oyster sundubu stew, and they cracked a whole egg right into it haha. It comes out bubbling in a ttukbaegi (earthenware pot) and is really delicious~ Packed with sundubu, soft and tasty~

Since it's oyster sundubu, the oysters make the broth taste clean and refreshing~ The oysters were plump and good too ㅎ I was very satisfied with the unforced savory depth, and it makes a hearty meal~ Highly recommended Maetdolroman Deungchon Branch for anyone looking for a good meal near Yangcheonhyanggyo Station~!
