Eel isn't cheap, so taste and quality matter. This place satisfied me on everything from the size of the eel to the texture to the atmosphere, so I wanted to introduce it. Being so easy to reach between Myeonmok Station and Sagajeong Station, it also looked like a good choice for family meals or company dinners.
Where do you park at Cheonsangae Myeonmok Sagajeong Branch?
The restaurant has no parking lot of its own. If you drive, use the Kkachi Park public parking lot, about a 4-minute walk away. It costs ₩1,200 per hour.
The walk from the restaurant to the lot wasn't much of a bother and the fee is easy on the wallet, so it seems a decent option for people coming by car.
Atmosphere and the self-serve bar

The first thing I noticed walking in was how clean and upscale it felt. You might picture an eel place as a bit rustic, but this one was tidy overall with stylish interior.
The tables were spaced comfortably, so the meal felt relaxed, and it seemed fine for a family gathering or an important dinner. The clean interior kept me in a good mood the whole meal, which was another plus.

There's also a self-serve bar, so grabbing more side dishes was easy. I love ginger, and I could take as much as I wanted.

This time I ordered the Cheonsangae set for 3, priced at ₩119,000. It's the signature set for really enjoying eel, and it's generous enough for three people.

Cheonsangae eel set for 3: the spread and the taste
Charcoal, side dishes and thinly sliced ginseng

When you order the set for 3, the charcoal comes out first!

The side dishes are set out neatly too. The doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) was delicious as well. They also serve thinly sliced ginseng, and wrapping it with the eel felt like a real health boost, which I loved!
Plump eel and grilling it

The first thing that caught my eye when the eel came out was its size. It was really plump, and you could tell it was fresh just by looking,

and the longer it grilled over the charcoal, the more appetizing it looked.

The texture was really good when I tasted it. The meat was plump and fun to chew, and above all the tenderness stood out.
Lettuce wraps with salted oysters

The eorigulgeot (salted oysters) was so good!!

Putting eel and salted oysters in a lettuce wrap was seriously delicious. Along with the eel's natural nuttiness, it added a savory depth that made it even better. It wasn't tough at all, staying springy and moist, so I think anyone from kids to grandparents would enjoy it.

The eel's flavor came through rich with every bite, and it reminded me again why so many people turn to eel for stamina.
Snow mushroom and eel sushi

They also bring baengmogi (white snow fungus mushroom), and dipped in the sauce it had a fun texture and a slightly addictive taste.

The eel made into sushi with a dab of wasabi on top was really, really good too. The price is on the high side, but considering the quality and amount of eel and how satisfied I was overall, it was easy to justify.

If you're looking for a good eel restaurant near Myeonmok Station, Cheonsangae Jangeoga Myeonmok Sagajeong Branch is well worth a visit. You do have to use the Kkachi Park public parking lot, but the walk to the restaurant was easy, and the inside was upscale and clean, a lovely place to eat.
