Cheonan crab restaurant for family meetings, chandelier hall: Kkotgeok
In short
Kkotgeok Cheonan Yuryang-dong Branch (꽃게옥 천안유량동점) is a Korean restaurant in Yuryang-dong, Cheonan, that specializes in soy-marinated and spicy marinated crab (gejang). The writer timed the visit for the season when female crabs are full of meat before molting. They ordered the C set of soy crab, spicy crab and Yeonpyeongdo crab stew, and especially loved crab-shell rice mixed with butter and topped with mustard leaf kimchi. With a high-ceilinged main hall under chandeliers and private group rooms, Kkotgeok is a solid choice for taking parents out or for a first meeting between two families.

Crab season is here: Kkotgeok in Yuryang-dong, Cheonan
Fellow foodies, did you know? Female crabs are right before molting and full of meat, so it's crab season right now!!! 😏🦀 Crab keeps showing up in my algorithm, lol! I've been drooling over mukbang videos at dawn!! So I went and had some myself!!

This is Kkotgeok (꽃게옥) in Yuryang-dong, Cheonan! I'm going to show you today's plump, meat-packed crab, so get ready to head out!! 🎶

Is Kkotgeok good for a family meeting or dinner with parents?
Kkotgeok Cheonan Yuryang-dong Branch looks upscale from the outside, so I think your parents would like it if you brought them, and it struck me as a great place for a sangyeollye (the formal first meeting of two families before a wedding). There's a main building, an annex and separate group seating, so it works for all kinds of gatherings!!! Parking is plentiful and roomy too, so even a big family gathering is fine. 🧑🧑🧒🧒
The inside of the main building feels modern, unlike what you'd expect from outside. The ceiling is very high and there are chandeliers, so it felt like a restaurant!! The tables were wide so it never felt cramped, and the mood was quiet and comfortable 😊

Good to know: they have disposable aprons and high chairs. The staff were all friendly and took good care of us whenever we needed something 🫶

Kkotgeok menu: the A, B and C sets
Kkotgeok Cheonan Yuryang-dong Branch has three sets, A, B and C, and we ordered the C set with Yeonpyeongdo crab stew. All three include soy crab and spicy crab; only the extra dish differs.
- A set: soy crab / spicy crab / dried barley-aged yellow croaker (boriguleobi)
- B set: soy crab / spicy crab / sous-vide boiled pork
- C set: soy crab / spicy crab / Yeonpyeongdo crab stew

Every table is set with sesame oil, tongs, scissors, a ladle, a bone bowl and hygiene gloves. Butter comes out too, and they kindly explain that if you don't like butter, you can mix in sesame oil instead!

We didn't order it, but if you do the review event, try the crispy vegetable pancake~ 😊

Kkotgeok side dishes: the mustard leaf kimchi is the standout
The side dishes were stir-fried fish cake, stir-fried zucchini, seasoned bean sprouts, white kimchi, mustard leaf kimchi (gat-kimchi), dried radish strips, seaweed and japchae. The mustard leaf kimchi is amazingly good!!! Wow, I thought I was in Yeosu?!?
Kkotgeok soy crab with butter and mustard leaf kimchi
I looooove butter, haha, so I added it when squeezing out the crab meat and when mixing rice into the crab shell, haha. Then put a piece of mustard leaf kimchi on top... that's the end of the story, seriously.
Can you see this female crab packed with roe?!? It's so full of meat, so dense and plump 😭 Am I the only one who drools at orange roe? I could only marvel at how it looked! 🫠
I barely used any force, just pressed a little, and the meat squeezed right out! I really, really love soy crab!! I could just lie down right here!!! 🤪

Piling on the meat and dipping it lightly in the soy sauce was delicious, and rice mixed in the crab shell with lots of butter and the marinade was really good too! The soy seasoning isn't salty, it was honey-sweet heaven. I completely lost my mind 🤩

What does Kkotgeok's spicy marinated crab taste like?
The spicy crab is topped with plenty of fragrant minari (water dropwort), so it felt like eating a seasoned salad! The seasoning is clean, with a fresh-tossed taste!

The spicy crab was full of roe just like the soy crab, so it was delicious 🤩 I want more just writing this blog 😩
Yeonpyeongdo crab stew in the C set
The Yeonpyeongdo crab stew in the C set has a whole crab in it! I love soup with my meals. It's so nice to wash everything down with it, ahhh~~~

The crab in the stew was also packed with meat, nutty and sweet. It was a very satisfying meal for me. 🤤
Kkotgeok's private group rooms for a quiet meal
There are also private group rooms, which is the reason I recommended Kkotgeok Cheonan Yuryang-dong Branch for a first family meeting! If you want a quiet meal, try the rooms at Kkotgeok in Yuryang-dong 🤗
