Jecheon Korean restaurant with a rainy infinity pool view: Deulbabae
In short
Deulbabae Forest Resom Branch (들밥애) is a Korean restaurant on the 3rd floor of the Forest Club at Forest Resom in Baegun-myeon, Jecheon, Chungbuk. After a spa date on a Sunday evening, the writer shared the grilled mackerel set for two, served with stone-pot rice, at a window seat overlooking the lit-up infinity pool in the rain. Prices at Deulbabae run a little high, as at most resort restaurants, but the view, the spread, the self-serve bar and the dessert corner made it a meal worth paying for.

To melt away daily stress and a stiff body, I tried a hot spa at Forest Resom in Jecheon as a different kind of date, then went to Deulbabae (들밥애), a great hanjeongsik (Korean set meal) spot! The grilled mackerel set is packed with protein and I highly recommend it🔥

This Jecheon Korean restaurant, Deulbabae, is on the 3rd floor of the Resom Forest Club!

Now that I'm in my 30s, I find myself picking Korean food more and more when eating out. It's not just me, right?..😂

Sunday evening at Deulbabae: window seats and the infinity pool view
Deulbabae was packed even on a Sunday evening. The day I visited, the place was completely full despite it being Sunday, so I skipped photos of the interior! There are also private rooms, so it seems like a comfortable option if you book a meal after a spa day on a family trip👍🏻👍🏻

I was shown to a window seat with a wide-open view! Through the floor-to-ceiling windows you can see the fresh green mountains of Jecheon, and it puts you in a good mood while you eat! The spa closes at 6 pm, so it was already over and the infinity pool lights were on, and with a gentle rain falling it was so romantic🧡

What should you order at Deulbabae?
From the Deulbabae menu, the writer settled on the grilled mackerel set, since it's hard to make at home! If you visit in a group, I recommend ordering two different two-person sets, so you can enjoy mackerel, spicy stir-fried pork (jeyuk), barley-dried yellow corvina (boriguleobi) and soy-marinated crab (ganjang gejang) as mains all at once.

What comes in Deulbabae's grilled mackerel set for two?

The grilled mackerel set for two arrives as a full table spread, and my jaw dropped at how generous it was!
Stone-pot rice and nurungji (scorched rice) tea
The rice isn't plain bowl rice either, it comes piping hot in a stone pot! After a long time playing in the water, eating warm pot rice like this spread warmth through my whole body. Once you scoop out the rice and pour in hot water, you can finish with nurungji sungnyung (toasted rice tea).

How the grilled mackerel and braised fish taste
The grilled mackerel is crispy outside and moist inside, rich yet clean-tasting!😋😋😋 You get one whole mackerel for two people, and the fish next to it was a braised fish that looked like kodari (semi-dried pollock)(?), spicy-sweet and chewy, and it went great with white rice!
Salty, mild grilled mackerel! It was honestly so good that I think I ate almost all of it myself...!

Doenjang stew on the burner and side dishes
The stew keeps bubbling warm on the burner on your table until the very end, and it really settles your stomach. If you need more side dishes, or ingredients for barley rice or bibimbap, you can take as much as you like from the Deulbabae self-serve bar. I tried a bite of each side dish, japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), kimchi pancake, salad and the hot doenjang (soybean paste) stew, and finished a whole bowl of rice in no time!

So, so delicious and generous, the grilled mackerel at Jecheon Korean restaurant Deulbabae gets my huge recommendation!

Deulbabae's self-serve side dish bar and dessert corner
At Deulbabae you can get extra side dishes from the self-serve corner too!

A dessert corner that's perfect for a snack after the meal! There's a dessert area on your way out after eating. They have freshly popped popcorn and a coffee machine, so it was perfect for taking something to go.

Coffee, popcorn and even puffed corn snacks! A hearty meal and a little palate cleanser too👍🏻👍🏻
Is Deulbabae Forest Resom Branch worth the price?
Since Deulbabae is a restaurant inside a resort, the prices are a bit on the high side, but considering the view, the food, the service and the self-serve bar, it was a satisfying meal that didn't feel like a waste. Do stop by on a family trip with your parents, or whenever you're craving a neat, tidy Korean meal!
With the weather getting chilly lately, a hot spa followed by a tasty, clean hanjeongsik table fully recharged my energy! Deulbabae was a restaurant that made my Jecheon trip so happy❤️
