Pangyo Station highball bar for pear highballs and mala soup: Bacha
In short
Bacha Pangyo Branch is a highball bar and pub serving food on Bundangnaegok-ro near Pangyo Station in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. The same group of four loved the matcha highball and food last winter, so they returned 7 months later on a Wednesday evening. They ordered the Kkachi Dolbae pear highball, matcha and tea highballs, a Kwaipe highball, rochi shrimp, sous vide pork jowl and mala brisket jjamppong soup. Both the highballs and the food at Bacha Pangyo Branch were delicious, making it a spot worth returning to for after-work drinks with friends.

Why did we come back to Bacha Pangyo Branch?
Bacha Pangyo Branch is a highball bar near Pangyo Station that we visited last winter. Someone said the matcha highball and the food were so good that we should go again, so the same group of four got back together at Bacha. We came last winter and now it's summer (ah... how time flies, haha).

What's the atmosphere at Bacha Pangyo Branch like?
Inside Bacha Pangyo Branch it's dim, with lighting that's great for drinking. But summer days are long. It's past 6 and it's still bright, haha. It's so bright outside that it still feels light in there.

A black and blue combo with picture frames here and there, a spoonful of moody interior.

Is there a wait on weekdays?
Even on a Wednesday evening, some tables at Bacha Pangyo Branch were marked reserved, and while we were drinking there were guests waiting outside. Did it get famous because the food and highballs are good? And this was a Wednesday, haha. Pangyo folks really have no designated drinking days, hehe.

I'd reserved, so^^ seated right away ◠‿◠

Her finger, pointing out the menu to a friend running a bit late from work, haha. Ugh, but everything looks delicious...

Yep... it was all delicious. Our happy evening, haha.

The basic setting at Bacha Pangyo Branch is water and pretzel snacks!! While waiting for our late friend, we crunched away. They're salty, total beer snacks.

Highballs at Bacha Pangyo Branch: what we drank first
Yay!! Everyone's finally here!! So? Straight to ordering drinks. For the first round: 2 Kkachi pear highballs, a Wednesday Apple Mint tea highball and a matcha highball.
Kkachi pear highball
The Kkachi pear highball is made with Kkachi Dolbae-ju, a traditional liquor made from Hadong pears, and apparently that liquor is a whopping 47% ABV, wow. I was a little worried because it's so strong, but from the first sip, wow, this is so good?!!! It's not just sweet, which I liked. It's sweet but you still taste the liquor, and the aroma is great too.
Wednesday Apple Mint tea highball
The Wednesday Apple Mint tea highball has apple flavor? aroma? and decaf peppermint, haha. The tea scent is fragrant, so it's a pleasant drink.
Matcha highball
The matcha highball seems to be matcha, whiskey and milk mixed together. Maybe because of the milk, it goes down creamy, haha. You feel the alcohol and the matcha together, so it's double the goodness.
Bacha Pangyo Branch isn't only good at highballs. The food is a hit too T_T

Food recommendations at Bacha Pangyo Branch: rochi shrimp and sous vide pork jowl
Rochi shrimp, a rosé sauce that isn't spicy
Rochi shrimp is tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) + fried chicken + shrimp on one plate!!!! The sauce is a rosé sauce, and it's not spicy at all, fine even for people who can't handle heat. In the creamy sauce there are rice cakes, bacon, cabbage, fish cake and plump, bouncy shrimp. The chicken that comes with it, dipped in the rosé sauce, ahh, makes you crave beer!!

Sous vide pork jowl with chive salad, our second order
We had the sous vide pork jowl with chive salad last time too, and ordered it again. Because it's so good. Because it's protein. Because we have to eat meat, you know. Being sous vide, it's moist, tender and chewy. Juices flowing, that rich pork jowl flavor hitting. And if you put the amazingly seasoned chive salad on top?? You crave makgeolli (rice wine)!!!!!

Second round: Honey Meadow tea highball and Kwaipe highball
It was a night too good to end here, we still had lots to talk about. So we ordered one more each at Bacha Pangyo Branch! A Kkachi pear highball, a Honey Meadow tea highball and 2 Kwaipe highballs.
The Honey Meadow tea highball has whiskey with chamomile and rooibos. It seems like a tea infused with honey scent. The moment you take a sip, honey floods your mouth and floral notes drift about. Bacha's tea highballs bring out the aroma well overall, so every sip puts me in a good mood, haha.
The Kwaipe highball tastes of lychee and tropical fruit!! Sweet, fresh and punchy. The moment I drank it: wow, this works!! Delicious!!

Mala brisket jjamppong soup: is it very spicy?
We wanted to order one soup dish too, so we got the mala brisket jjamppong soup (spicy seafood-style noodle soup). You taste the mala, but it's not too spicy. I think even people who can't handle heat could eat it?? It's packed with mushrooms, bok choy, beef brisket, noodles (udon noodles, it seems?) and more.
The broth is especially good. You feel the power of mala while the savory depth stays alive! And it seems to taste a bit like Neoguri ramen too!! As a broth lover, I was drinking the broth again today, haha.
Revisiting Bacha Pangyo Branch: the verdict
Bacha Pangyo Branch once again made our after-work hours happy, haha. The highballs and the food are just... so good. Next time I'm thinking of coming for Bacha's signature seafood jjim (steamed seafood). The look of it is insane, haha.
