Post-lunch decaf café in Mangwon, Seoul: lattes & matcha Basque, PICT

After lunch in Mangwon, we were wondering where to go for a café next, and heard about a place with great coffee and great desserts, so we visited PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch (픽트로스터리 망원점)! 👍

Is PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch cool in summer?

The air conditioning at PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch is seriously strong, which made it a great place to rest in midsummer. Cooling is what matters most in summer, right? The AC greets us as we walk in 🫠

It was too hot to go anywhere far.. so the cool air was SO nice. A-C po-wer cool-ing 🫶

How do you find the entrance to PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch?

The PIKT sign is tiny, so keep your eyes peeled.

You go in through this door (boss, please make the sign a bit bigger!)

Follow these stairs down about half a floor and you'll see the door (already so pretty, right?)

Right in front of the door there's a moody little space like this, with a big Marshall speaker. The music was calm and nice too, all instrumentals.

Does the half-basement feel stuffy?

PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch is a half-basement, but the big windows give it a nice open feel. Nice work, Taek! 🤗

The inside is bright and open too, so you can see the staff making everything (please make it delicious!)

What is the seating like at PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch?

PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch has bar seats by the window and table seats. The window bar looked fine for working on a laptop or reading alone. There were people who came alone, and the cozy atmosphere seems great for spending time comfortably 😘

There are table seats too, and more of them than the photo shows. The tables aren't packed together, so it didn't feel cramped; it has that cozy half-basement feel, yet the big windows keep it from feeling stuffy. The light is good, so photos turn out pretty 🥰 There were lots of customers, and we were lucky to get a seat! ><

What did we order? Is decaf available?

At PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch we ordered two café lattes (decaf) at ₩6,500 each and a matcha Basque cheesecake at ₩7,500. Decaf was available, which was great 😊

Taek hates matcha.. but hehe... just try a bite!

Decaf café latte

The decaf café latte at PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch had a nicely nutty milk flavor, and the espresso bitterness wasn't overdone, so it was easy to drink!! What does a strong shot mean to Taek? haha Being able to switch to decaf was a plus for me personally, and since you don't have to worry about caffeine even if you visit late in the afternoon, I'm handing out a pass medal 🫶

Matcha Basque cheesecake

The matcha Basque cheesecake at PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch was very, very creamy and soft. Not the dense, thick kind. And the matcha flavor came through strongly. ★Big pass★

The cheesecake itself isn't very sweet, so it pairs really well with coffee, and the bitter matcha flavor blends nicely with the savory cheese, so I think matcha lovers will be satisfied (and Taek? we'll see). The texture melts softly in your mouth, so after one bite you keep reaching for more 👍
