Wonder Coffee Bar Yeokgok: a Bucheon café that's packed even in the rain
Ask anyone for the most famous coffee shop in Bucheon and Wonder Coffee Bar (분더커피바) is one of the first names that comes up. A close friend of mine who lives in Bucheon, who I call my unnie (older sister figure), had been asking me to go with her for ages, and we finally made it! It was a rainy day, but the seats were almost full and there were so many delivery orders~
How to get to Wonder Coffee Bar Yeokgok, and where to park
Wonder Coffee Bar Yeokgok is a 7-minute walk from Yeokgok Station Exit 2. It started out as one small unit in the middle, and now it has expanded into the units on both sides. You can park 2–3 cars right in front of the shop, but when it's full, use a nearby lot. See below for the closest free option.
Where we parked when the front was full
There's room for 2–3 cars in front of Wonder Coffee Bar, but it was full when we went T_T So I looked around for parking. There was no public lot nearby, but there was a nighttime resident-priority parking zone, and since it was daytime we parked there~ It didn't cost anything.
Seating and opening hours at Wonder Coffee Bar Yeokgok
Wonder Coffee Bar Yeokgok began as a first shop in a bar format, and as the customers grew, they opened up the shops on both sides and run them together. Nearly all the tables were taken, and when I walked in a big group happened to be leaving, so only the group seating was empty~

I hear Wonder Coffee Bar has been recognized by Bucheon City Hall as a top coffee spot~ There were lots of trophies at the entrance, and the coffee machine looked insanely expensive!

We ordered Wonder Coffee Bar's signature affogato (the Wunder Gato) and the einspänner, and there were so many tasty-looking desserts that we also got a fruit sando and a salted choco financier, four items in all~
Wunder Gato: strong coffee over smooth ice cream
The Wunder Gato is the ice cream coffee we all know, an affogato~ It's rich, smooth ice cream with strong coffee poured over it. The ice cream is so smooth I think it'd be great on its own, and eating it with the strong coffee makes it the absolute best after-meal dessert~
Einspänner: won over even an iced-americano-only drinker
This was my first time trying an einspänner at Wonder Coffee Bar. I barely drink any coffee drink besides iced americano, but this was so good~ As you sip through the soft cream on top, the strong, clear coffee comes up, and this was also a great after-meal coffee!
Fruit sando: a fruit cream sandwich we finished even though we were full
Put simply, Wonder Coffee Bar's fruit sando (sandwich) is a fruit cream sandwich. The bread was so chewy and the cream was really soft and sweet! Add the fresh fruit and I think it could be a meal on its own~ We'd had a huge lunch and kept saying we were stuffed, stuffed, but we finished it anyway haha. I normally can't handle rich, greasy food, but it wasn't greasy at all, and if it does get rich, a sip of the einspänner or iced americano is a perfect combo!
Salted choco financier: a not-too-sweet sweet-and-salty treat
The salted choco financier (a small almond cake) that my chocolate-loving friend ordered has salt on top, chocolate inside, and a chocolate coating outside~ But it still wasn't very sweet! The sweetness was just right and the sweet-and-salty balance was so good that if we hadn't had the sando, I could've easily eaten 2–3 of them!
Going without the kids, just my unnie and me: how was it?
I have a really close friend in Bucheon, so I visit regularly, but I always go with my kids, so we hadn't been able to go to a coffee shop just the two of us very often~ I'd already heard Wonder Coffee Bar was famous, and this time I came without the kids, just me, and both the coffee and the desserts left me happy with this Yeokgok café^^
