After shopping at Paju Outlets on a fall weekend afternoon, the writer had an iced café latte and the new 7,000-won basil tomato bread at On the Rail's outdoor tables set along railway tracks. What is On the Rail, the outdoor café near Paju Outlets, like?
On the Rail (온더레일) is an outdoor café on Imjingak-ro in Munsan-eup, Paju, and its outdoor space is so nicely done that it's a great Paju café to visit with kids. I stopped by yesterday after going to Paju Outlets. The fall weather has been gorgeous lately, sunny and not hot at all, and I really wanted to go to an outdoor café!

Indoor atmosphere and weekend crowds at On the Rail
Inside, the café has big, bright windows, so it gets lots of sunlight and feels really open. I went on a weekend after lunch and it was packed!
Since it's open until 2am, it's also a good stop after a night drive! Cafés that stay open this late are rare these days, so I'd recommend it as a late-night café in Paju too.

Outdoor tables and the railway photo zone at On the Rail
This day I skipped the indoor seats and took an outdoor table. Just like the café's name, there are rails laid out outside, and people take lots of photos there while kids have a great time playing.

Here's what the outdoor tables look like~ Pretty, right? The weather is neither hot nor cold these days, which is so nice. A light breeze was blowing, and sitting there with a cup of coffee, I couldn't have asked for anything more.

What drinks and bakery items does On the Rail serve?
The drink menu has plenty of coffee options, plus ades and teas. Since lots of people come with kids, there are even Pororo drinks (a kids' drink named after a cartoon character)~ You know how it goes: when the kids throw a fit, one Pororo drink fixes everything, right~???

The bakery menu is varied too, which makes it easy to pair with a drink~ Mont blanc, sausage roll, basil tomato, and salt bread!! I tried the newly launched basil tomato bread.

Is On the Rail in Paju dog-friendly?
On the Rail is an outdoor café in Paju that allows pets, so you'll see lots of dogs. There were plenty the day I visited, and since I love dogs, watching them was half the fun~

Microwave and toaster for warming bread at On the Rail
There's a microwave and a toaster, so you can warm up any bread you buy~!! Each bread has a note on how many minutes to warm it for the best taste. I followed them, and this place is a real bread specialist!! The bread was so good~

Doesn't the scenery behind look like a painting?? The weather was perfect, a gentle breeze was blowing, and I had a tasty iced café latte with chewy basil tomato bread with great basil flavor *_* It was a perfect day out in Paju. That's why it's such a good Paju café to visit with kids or family.

When is the best time to visit On the Rail?
At night you can even sit by a fire pit (불멍, bulmeong, "fire gazing"), and since it's open until 2am, couples will find On the Rail a good late-night date spot in Paju.

Around 2pm after lunch is a nice time to go, and so is 5 to 6pm when the sunset comes. A warm cup of coffee while watching the sunset blows away the stress from the workweek~

The vibe works for catching up with a friend or for a date. Above all, there are lots of spots good for photos, so it's great for capturing the café's mood. If you want to feel Paju's laid-back charm, I think it's worth a visit at least once.

On the Rail's new basil tomato bread: taste and price
The basil tomato bread is ₩7,000 and quite big, so you could eat it as a meal replacement~ I picked it because it was new, and I was surprised by how good it was! The basil sauce and the tomato went together so well.
