Seogyo-dong vegan café with cornflake pudding: Naemyeonui Balgyeon
In short
Naemyeonui Balgyeon (내면의 발견) is a gallery-like café in Seogyo-dong, Seoul, between Mangwon Station and Hongdae, with a different concept on every floor from the ground floor to the rooftop. On a weekday evening visit for coffee and cornflake pudding, the potato-soft texture of the pudding, the plush sofa seats and the magazine-like interiors at Naemyeonui Balgyeon stood out. Naemyeonui Balgyeon is a crowd-pleasing Seogyo-dong café for a quiet solo break or an easy conversation.

This is my review of Naemyeonui Balgyeon (내면의 발견), a Seogyo-dong café that was so pretty I was excited before I even walked in :)

How do you get to Naemyeonui Balgyeon in Seogyo-dong?
You can walk from Mangwon Station Exit 1, or take the Mapo 09 bus from the Dongyo-ro intersection near Hongik Univ. Station and get off at 'Korea Institute for Maritime Strategy', right in front of the café. If you're around Hongdae or Mangwon and want a quiet place to collect your thoughts, Naemyeonui Balgyeon is the one that should come to mind.

It shows up as you stroll from Mangwon Station Exit 1, and since the bus stop is right in front, it's easy to reach by public transport too.

What is the atmosphere like at Naemyeonui Balgyeon?
The café spans everything from the ground floor up to the rooftop. Each floor has its own interior and mood, so every visit feels like coming to a brand-new café.
The overall mood is quiet and calm, so I think it's perfect for reading a book or working on a laptop alone, or for a deep talk with someone special.

When I visited on a weekday evening, there were people sitting quietly on their own, and others who had rented a space and were holding a meeting.

What are the menu and prices at Naemyeonui Balgyeon?
The signatures are Forest Cloud (₩7,500) and Lavender Grasse (₩8,500), and an americano is ₩5,000. You can tell from the menu alone that this is a café serious about coffee and dessert. Beyond the usual café fare, the brewed coffee lineup is really varied,

and best of all, there's a solid wellness menu with organic ingredients plus vegan options, which is great for anyone watching their health!

Even the names of the signature drinks match the concept of the space. 'Forest Cloud' (₩7,500) feels like a blue sky in a cup, and 'Lavender Grasse' (₩8,500) sounds like it has a lovely subtle fragrance. These are the signature drinks.

Compared with a regular americano (₩5,000), the prices are a bit higher, but given the coziness of the space and how special the drinks are, it's perfectly understandable.

Naemyeonui Balgyeon opening hours
The café closes at 7 pm on weekdays (Mon–Fri) and 8 pm on weekends (Sat–Sun), so if you go late in the evening, your time there may be fairly short. Keep that in mind!

What does the cornflake pudding taste like?
The cornflake pudding here isn't a gelatin-style jelly texture. It's a pudding with a very soft, potato-like texture. I ordered it with my coffee, and I was surprised because it wasn't the jelly kind I had pictured.

Even though it was a pudding texture I'd never had before, I just kept scooping it up. Magic...!! It was so good I buried my face in it, haha.

A gallery-like space and seating on every floor
Wherever you turn your eyes, it looks like a gallery, to the point where I wondered whether I'd come to a Seogyo-dong café or a Seogyo-dong gallery. One of my favorite things about Naemyeonui Balgyeon is that you can really browse it like a gallery, and still spend some quiet time on your own before heading out!

The spaces are well separated too. There's an outdoor spot like this where you can sit, and each floor has a completely different seating concept.

There are sofa seats like this one, too, and if you want to rest right away, the sofa was really comfy, haha. It was so plush, and with great drinks and tasty dessert on top, it felt exactly like healing.

Every space was nicely decorated, too. It felt like a designer who really knows their stuff had put serious effort into it... like something out of a magazine, so wherever I looked, I felt happy.

Naemyeonui Balgyeon rooftop seats
Even up on the rooftop there's seating like this. Go up on a cool spring or autumn day, with a breeze blowing and a tasty drink in hand, and the stress would melt away, wouldn't it?

If it were near my home, I'd go every day and just zone out..!!

Overall verdict on my first visit
I only have happy memories of Naemyeonui Balgyeon. I'd been putting off a visit for ages and finally made my first trip this time, and it really is such a happy space that I think anyone would like it :)
