Busan galbitang restaurant with self-bar iced coffee: Gang Galbitang

Gang Galbitang Seomyeon is a galbitang (beef short rib soup) restaurant a 5-minute walk from Exit 11 of Seomyeon Station in Busan. The dining room was full at lunchtime, and the order was spicy galbitang and regular galbitang with an extra portion of noodles sourced from Jeju, followed by a trip to the side dish self-bar with its coffee machine and ice maker. With separate tables for one, Gang Galbitang Seomyeon makes a hearty restorative meal easy even for solo diners in Seomyeon.

Chinese restaurant stop after a Gijang coastal drive, Haeundae

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is a premium Chinese restaurant on the ground floor of a standalone building on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae, Busan. Hungry after a seaside drive from Gijang, the writer ordered the signature poached-egg five-layer pork gan-jjajang (stir-fried black bean noodles) and black vinegar pork sirloin tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), and found the free basement parking with direct elevator access made the stop easy. Portions at Bueokgan are generous despite the sleek 50-pyeong interior, making it worth a return on another drive along the coast.
