Gukbap set and new sundae muchim near BIFC: Yeosueseo Onnajin Gukbap
In short
Yeosueseo Onnajin Gukbap BIFC branch (여수에서온나진국밥 부산국제금융센터점) is a gukbap (Korean rice soup) restaurant on the 3rd floor of the BIFC mall building in Munhyeon-dong, Nam-gu, Busan. After a stop at Busan Citizens Hall, the writer had the gukbap set and the new sundae muchim (spicy blood sausage salad). The spicy gukbap, loaded with perilla seeds, cheongyang chili and bean sprouts, tasted cleaner and more savory than Busan pork soup, and the sundae muchim paired cucumber with a sweet-sour, spicy sauce. Yeosueseo Onnajin Gukbap is a good pick near BIFC for office lunches, work dinners and family meals.

What is Yeosueseo Onnajin Gukbap BIFC branch?
Yeosueseo Onnajin Gukbap BIFC branch (여수에서온나진국밥) is a gukbap (rice-in-soup) restaurant in Munhyeon-dong, Busan, near International Finance Center Busan Bank Station and Geo Place. They say they pick fresh ingredients every day and boil them in a cauldron right in the shop, and the menu covers a range of gukbap, gukbap set meals, a drinking-table set, suyuk (boiled sliced pork) and more. The interior is a clean white-and-wood look, so it works for family, couples, friends, and since there are lots of offices nearby, office workers too. A good BIFC meal spot, haha

Yeosueseo Onnajin Gukbap menu and table kiosk ordering

Lunch after Busan Citizens Hall: gukbap set and sundae muchim
I happened to be at Busan Citizens Hall and came here for lunch, so I ordered the basic gukbap set and the sundae muchim (seasoned Korean blood sausage salad). While waiting I looked around the shop, and it turns out this place is well known from TV shows like Huh Young-man's Gourmet Road Trip (Sikgaek Heo Yeong-man's Baekban Giheng), Sung Si-kyung's Meogeultende, and KBS Battle Trip.

Side dishes and the self-serve corner
To go with the main dishes, they gave us chives, chili peppers, onion, ssamjang (seasoned dipping paste) and kimchi. If you run short, you can take only what you can eat from the self-serve corner, and there is pepper on the table, haha
We also got dadaegi (red chili seasoning), cheongyang chili peppers, salted shrimp, a spicy sauce that goes well with suyuk, pickled onions, and a generous bowl of rice, haha

How does the Yeosueseo Onnajin Gukbap set broth taste?
The gukbap set came as basic gukbap plus suyuk. The gukbap, they say, is made by picking fresh ingredients every day and boiling them in a cauldron in the shop, and

cooked with care, so it looked appetizing right away. Above all, the spicy broth was packed with perilla seed powder, cheongyang chili peppers and bean sprouts, and unlike Busan pork soup, the broth was clean overall and really savory and delicious!!

The white meat in the gukbap set's suyuk is pork jowl
The suyuk that came with the set was sliced boiled pork with chives. While eating, you may spot some white pieces of meat. They aren't fat but hangjeongsal (pork jowl), a rare cut that only comes in small amounts from the head, which I thought was neat.

It's delicious just enjoying the tender, chewy texture of the meat itself, and it went nicely with the chives and onion too~
How the new sundae muchim at Yeosueseo Onnajin Gukbap tastes
Recently the restaurant launched new items: bean sprout gukbap, soft tofu gukbap and sundae muchim. I ordered the sundae muchim since it seemed an easy side to go with gukbap. It had chewy sundae with cucumber, green onion, onion and bitter perilla leaves finely sliced, topped with a sprinkle of nutty perilla seed powder.
The cool, crunchy cucumber, the spicy-sour sauce and the sundae blended together really well, and it tastes even better alongside the main dishes!!
