Danyang market bakery garlic bread, opened in the car: Danppang

Today I'm sharing my review of Danppang Bakery (단빵제빵소), a top pick at Danyang's Gugyeong Market!

Danppang Bakery sits inside Gugyeong Market, and with so many hot black garlic foods around, it was unbelievably crowded! Honestly, Danppang Bakery and the black garlic nurungji chicken gangjeong (crispy rice crust with sweet fried chicken) place felt like the top two.

How long is the wait at Danppang Bakery in Gugyeong Market?

Danppang Bakery had the longest line in Gugyeong Market. Even the huge pile of packing boxes disappeared in no time.

The line here was seriously long. See that big stack of boxes in the photo? But they sell so fast that it was gone quickly.

Danyang garlic must be really famous! There's so much garlic food, and Danppang Bakery's garlic bread is easily number one. It's big, generous and cheap, so people seem to buy it as gifts while traveling!

It has been on several food shows, so I was full of anticipation while waiting... the toasty cream cheese smell got me so excited!

What's in the four-flavor set

At Danppang Bakery we ordered the four-flavor set so we could try everything: crispy-soft garlic bread, black garlic cream cheese garlic bread, sweet potato custard garlic bread and cream cheese garlic bread.

Eee! We ordered the four-flavor set to taste all four! Four kinds in total!

We were so hungry that we just opened it right in the car, haha. Big pieces, a lovely savory smell, and cream cheese and toppings packed in generously throughout. Great value!

Cream cheese garlic bread

My boyfriend's first pick was the cream cheese garlic bread. Plenty of cream cheese between golden-brown layers of garlic bread, and the moisture soaks into the bread so it practically melts the moment it hits your mouth.

It's also heavy because nothing is skimped on, so even one piece is really filling. Above all, the cream cheese is rich and tangy, with real depth of flavor!

Sweet potato custard garlic bread

We had the sweet potato custard garlic bread for breakfast the next morning. The sweetness of the custard and the sweet potato go together so well, so delicious! The thick, rich custard is a perfect sugar boost, and with an iced americano it was insane. Great for breakfast, I think.

Black garlic cream cheese garlic bread

And the one I really recommend is the black garlic cream cheese garlic bread! At first I couldn't imagine the taste and was half doubtful, but wow, this unique cream cheese flavor I'd never had goes really well with garlic bread! It isn't very sweet, just right, so you never get tired of it and keep eating.

Danppang Bakery as a Danyang travel gift

My review of Danppang Bakery is very satisfied! The pieces are big and the ingredients generous, so even one feels substantial. I totally recommend it as a Danyang travel gift!!! If you go too late it can close early, so when you visit Gugyeong Market, please order ahead!
