Why did I use a car windshield oil film remover?
When driving on rainy days, the windshield felt hazy. It was especially worrying at night in the rain, when visibility became blurred. Since I usually wash my car myself, I decided to remove the oil film while doing a self-service wash this time.
I received and used AutoGrooming Clean View oil film remover, which I found through an online search.
What is included, and what is the order of use?
The package included the oil film remover solution and a dedicated towel. I liked that I did not have to prepare a separate towel for rubbing the glass.
First, I removed the dust. I sprayed the solution evenly onto glass that was thoroughly wet, starting with the windshield and moving on to the side windows.
Next, I rubbed the glass with the included dedicated towel. In my experience, it cleaned up without needing as much force as I expected.
How long did it take to treat all the windows?
After rubbing a few times with the towel, the round-looking oil film seemed to disappear. Treating the windshield, side windows, and rear window took about 10 minutes in total.
The oil film remover I used before required a lot of rubbing and took a long time. This time, the job felt shorter, so it did not feel burdensome to use during a self-service car wash.
How were the glass and driver’s view after rinsing?
At the end, I rinsed thoroughly with clean water. After rinsing, the glass felt clear and transparent.
The view through the windshield from the driver’s seat also felt cleaner than before. I was satisfied because the wipers seemed to wipe more cleanly too.
How much solution was left after one use?
The solution did not seem to go down much after one use. It seemed like one bottle could probably be used about three to four times, as described. That is not a number I confirmed through repeated use; it is simply what I thought after seeing how much was left after this job.
I also liked that it did not cause whitening on rubber molding if it got on it. It says it can be used on shower-booth glass too, but the place I used it this time was car glass. For me, the most satisfying part was being able to do the job in a short time without using much force.
