Car wash for bug splatter: AutoGrooming AutoGrooming 3 Cube Wash Line

I’m pretty picky when choosing car-wash products, and the AutoGrooming AutoGrooming 3 Cube Wash Line first caught my eye because of its design. Once I tried it on the front of a car covered in bug remains, though, the cleaning result stayed with me even more.

What does the Cube Wash Line 3-piece set include?

The first thing that caught my eye when I opened the box was the color palette of the packaging.

A measuring cap and accessories were included too. I liked that the set seemed designed with actual usability in mind.

This is a 3PH car-wash setup that uses an alkaline pre-wash, an acidic pre-wash, and a mildly alkaline car shampoo in that order.

The purple Indigo Core is an alkaline pre-wash meant to soften bug remains and stubborn grime.

The red Red Dissolve is an acidic pre-wash for addressing water spots and mineral contamination.

The blue Blue Edge is a mildly alkaline car shampoo for the main wash. At first I wondered whether washing the car would become complicated, but once I used them, the separate roles made the process feel fun.

Was the cube-shaped bottle easy to use?

Its square cube shape felt distinctive in my hand. It stood out at the car wash too—a design that made me want to take photos.

How bad were the bug marks before washing?

I’d been doing a lot of highway driving lately, so there were quite a lot of bug remains around the bumper and headlights. They showed up even more clearly on the white car, and they were not in a state that would come off easily with water alone.

The wide opening made diluting the pre-wash easy. I worried less about spilling it, and the vivid color also made it easy to check the diluted mixture.

How were the alkaline pre-wash foam and cling?

First, I used the Indigo Core alkaline pre-wash to remove bug remains and organic contamination.

After diluting it in a foam lance, I sprayed it onto the car. The foam spread quickly and enveloped the dirt.

Rich foam formed on the side mirrors too. It also seemed to cling nicely to the surface.

When I sprayed it heavily over the areas with lots of bug marks, I could see the grime loosening. The foam held up well, so it was nice for waiting while it worked.

How was it after using the acidic pre-wash?

Next, I used the Red Dissolve acidic pre-wash. Since it was introduced as a product for water spots and mineral contamination, I thought of this as the step for dealing with water marks. The red color of the undiluted product was striking too.

I diluted it in the foam lance and applied it carefully over the entire car. Plenty of foam came up, which also made spraying it fun.

Even by this stage, I could see that the car looked noticeably cleaner.

How were the car shampoo foam and mitt movement?

For the final main wash, I did a bucket wash with the Blue Edge mildly alkaline car shampoo. The undiluted shampoo had a comfortable viscosity, so it was easy to use.

It produced foam well, forming a thick layer of foam in the bucket.

The wash mitt was covered in rich foam too. I was happy with how smoothly the mitt glided over the paintwork.

Were the bug marks on the front removed satisfactorily?

After finishing the wash, the clean surface caught my eye before the shine did. The clear, fresh look particular to a white car came back, and I was especially pleased with the removal of the bug marks on the front. Even before drying it, the surface looked clean.

With one set, I got to use an alkaline pre-wash, acidic pre-wash, and car shampoo in sequence. Beyond the bottle design, I also liked the cleaning feel of the pre-washes and the foam and lubrication of the car shampoo.

The car-wash process was more fun than I had expected. I could really feel the cleaning result when washing a car with lots of bug remains like this one, and I plan to use it again for my next wash.
