In short
Bueokgan Suwan Branch is a pasta and Western food restaurant in Gwangju's Suwan district, tucked inside a food alley near the neighborhood police station. When you're craving pasta in Suwan district, come here! Bueokgan Suwan Branch 🏡Suwan-dong 1340, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, South Korea ⏰Daily 11:30~21:00 Break time 15:00~17:00 Last order 20:20 🚘Alley parking 👼Baby chairs available
Today I visited Bueokgan, a pasta place I'd call one of the best in Suwan district! The interior was clean and the food was great, so I'm recommending it. I was happy with it last time too, so let me introduce it!

Location and parking at Bueokgan Suwan Branch
Bueokgan, a Suwan district favorite, sits inside the food alley near the Suwan district police substation. There's no dedicated parking lot, but you can park along the white solid line right in front of the store!

Floor-to-ceiling windows, pink & green interior, and three baby chairs
The store has a floor-to-ceiling window view, so it felt bright and even prettier with the pink and green color combo! There are sofa seats and bar seats too, so it works well for group gatherings or small meetups at Bueokgan Suwan. There's also a coat hanger in one corner, handy for hanging your outerwear!
There are also 3 baby chairs, so it's a great spot for eating out with kids in Suwan district 👍👍

The store is full of tasteful little props here and there, which made the vibe even better! There's a wine cellar too, so a glass of wine with your pasta sounds perfect haha

The basic table setting is really clean!

Menu lineup and what we ordered
There are couple and family sets so you can enjoy the meal at a good value, and with soups, salads, pilafs, pasta, risotto, lasagna, steak, pizza and more, it was hard to choose haha. We were more in the mood for noodles and rice than pizza, so we ordered a pilaf and two pastas haha
- 📌 Shrimp anchovy oil pasta ₩18,000
- 📌 Abalone cream risotto ₩20,000
- 📌 Kung Pao chicken pilaf ₩22,000

Shrimp anchovy oil pasta
The shrimp anchovy oil pasta was so good last time that I ordered it again! It's pleasantly funky, salty and oily, and it's still delicious the second time around haha

The shrimp were super plump too, great chewy texture!
You know pasta tastes best when you twirl it, right? With pasta+shrimp+garlic all together, I just kept going haha. The pasta disappeared in no time..haha

Abalone cream risotto
I've been into risotto lately so I ordered the abalone cream risotto, and honestly, the visuals alone couldn't possibly taste bad..!
The abalone innards paired perfectly with the cream! The abalone was finely chopped too, so the chewy texture was great. It wasn't too rich, just rich enough, and I finished the whole bowl haha. Totally recommend it when you're craving risotto!

Kung Pao chicken pilaf, the whole chicken thigh visual
The Kung Pao chicken pilaf is a spicy Asian-style fried rice with an oven-roasted whole chicken thigh stir-fried with salty Kung Pao sauce! I'd been curious about this menu for a while and finally ordered it this time haha. The chicken thigh that came out was way bigger than I expected, the visual was insane!
It's a whole chicken thigh, so honestly the chicken alone could fill you up?!! The chicken was tender and delicious too

The inside of the chicken thigh looked reddish so I wondered if it was undercooked, but they said it's slow-cooked at a low temperature, so no need to worry! You can trust Bueokgan Suwan on that. Since it's thigh meat, it was tender and delicious! If you need rice at an Italian restaurant, I recommend this menu

It's tasty piled on top of the rice too, and the pilaf had a nice chewy texture that made it even better
If you're looking for a pasta place in Suwan district, I recommend Bueokgan, a Suwan district favorite!
