Eoneu Dal (어느달) is a pasta restaurant on Jeongmundong-gil in Pocheon, Gyeonggi. On a second visit after taking the baby to Pocheon Insect Theme Park, the writer ordered salmon salad, spicy shrimp pilaf, beef tomato pasta and green grape ade at Eoneu Dal. With baby chairs, baby tableware and even baby scissors provided, Eoneu Dal is an easy pick for eating out with a baby.
Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch is an all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu and wolnamssam (rice paper wrap) restaurant within walking distance of Namwirye Station in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. On a hot day the writer took a child out for a restorative meal of beef chuck and beef brisket shabu-shabu, rice paper wraps with cooked beef, self-serve porridge and ice cream, then walked the waterside park in front of the restaurant. Verdict: Dadam Shabu Shabu offers good-quality beef for the price and fresh ingredients, making it a satisfying family meal with kids.
Brothers Yangpyeong Haejangguk Naechon Branch is a hangover soup (haejangguk) restaurant in Naechon-myeon, Pocheon, Gyeonggi, near Hallim Gwangneung CC, and a regular stop for the blogger's husband, who loves offal soup (naejangtang). On this visit the family ordered the offal soup upgraded to the "special" size and a handmade jumbo pork cutlet to share with their baby: the offal soup was so generous the offal never seemed to run out, and the pork cutlet, served without sauce, was easy to share with the baby. Brothers Yangpyeong Haejangguk Naechon Branch is a family dining spot worth it for the generous offal soup, well-fermented kimchi and misutgaru slush.
Ilchul Hoetjip (일출횟집) is a sashimi restaurant inside Jumunjin Fish Market in Gangneung, Gangwon, on the right of the aisle below the whale statue. On a tight Gangneung–Pyeongchang trip, the writer took a small halibut-and-salmon sashimi plate (₩40,000) and a mixed-fish mulhoe (cold spicy raw fish soup, ₩15,000) back to the hotel room and got a free pack of seafood as well; the sashimi was fresh with no fishy smell and the mulhoe came with plenty of noodles. Ilchul Hoetjip is a good place in Jumunjin for two people to get sashimi to go without worrying about being overcharged.
Dokkaebi Gelato is a rooftop gelato café right in front of Dokkaebi Breakwater in Jumunjin, Gangneung. On a visit with her son, the writer ordered the 18,900 won Dokkaebi Gelaple Set made with rice gelato, plus strawberry and Oreo gelato, and looked around the free buckwheat flower and scarf prop corner and the rooftop. Dokkaebi Gelato is worth a stop for Gangneung travelers who want an ocean view, good value and photos at the Goblin drama filming site in one go.
Ichigyu Wonju is a gyukatsu (breaded beef cutlet) and steak restaurant on the first floor of a shopping complex on Neungnadong-gil in Wonju, Gangwon. On the way home from a trip with a child, the writer ordered a gyukatsu set and a stamina steak and grilled both over the tabletop grill at each seat in melted Isigny butter, then received a plate of rice cake and cheese plus fried shrimp through the review events. Verdict: Ichigyu Wonju is the place to properly enjoy gyukatsu, which is hard to find in Wonju.
Rabo Steakhouse Cheongdam (라보 스테이크하우스 청담점) is a garden steakhouse in a converted house within walking distance of Apgujeong Rodeo Station in Gangnam, Seoul. Before going back to work, the writer came for a lunch date with her husband and had the ₩88,000-per-person lunch course: a 200g steak, bread, a smoked salmon starter, Caesar salad, burrata salad and dessert. Valet parking cost ₩5,000. If you want a filling steak lunch in the heart of Cheongdam for under ₩100,000 a head, Rabo Steakhouse Cheongdam is a good choice.
