Sokcho Beach pizza and beer: a ₩35,000 five-slice spread, Gagas Pizza

A review of Gagas Pizza, which I visited during my trip to Sokcho. I loved its hip, New York-style vibe!

Near Sokcho Beach and craving pizza and beer instead of raw fish

Gagas Pizza is a slice pizza shop at 10 Saemaeul 9-gil, Sokcho, Gangwon, about a 3-minute walk from Sokcho Beach. Sokcho means the sea, right? Walking along Sokcho Beach, I got hungry, but I didn't feel like raw fish that day. Pizza and beer sounded better, so I headed here.

What are the layout and seating at Gagas Pizza like?

Gagas Pizza is split into a 1st and 2nd floor. You order on the 1st floor and they bring it up to the 2nd floor for you. There's also an outdoor area on the 1st floor! haha I visited before walking along Sokcho Beach, and this alley has lots of cafés, dessert shops and pretty stores, so it was surprisingly busy.

Pick your own slices at Gagas Pizza

What I liked about Gagas Pizza is that you can choose by the slice! haha When you come with several people, everyone wants something different and ordering gets stressful. Here you can pick slices to your own taste. I think it'd be even more fun with a group haha

Floor-to-ceiling windows on the 2nd floor, white-toned New York style and hip-hop music

The 2nd floor of Gagas Pizza has floor-to-ceiling windows, so it's bright and open! The white tones and New York feel made it surprisingly hip and cool. They also play real hip-hop, and it was so fun 👍

Maybe because of all the natural light, the whole place felt casual yet stylish, and I loved it.

The music from the speakers was the best too!

The shop is really clean.

The staff pour the beer themselves right in the shop!

Table sauces and the self-serve bar

Each table at Gagas Pizza has hot sauce, Parmesan powder, salt and red pepper flakes, so you can eat comfortably. Pickles, jalapeños, forks and knives are free to take at the self-serve bar 🫶

That day at Gagas Pizza I ordered five kinds of slices, a Budweiser draft and a Coke Zero.

Don't think "slice" means small. Even one slice is huge, enough to count as a meal.

My top pick: the White Mushroom pizza

The tastiest was the White Mushroom pizza! If you come to Gagas Pizza, you must order it. The mushroom aroma is rich, and the creamy sauce goes so well with the dough!

Hawaiian pizza and the thin, chewy dough

Next best was the Hawaiian pizza. The tangy pineapple was superb! And the dough... I normally never finish the crust, but Gagas Pizza's dough is thin yet chewy, so I ate it all haha

The basic of basics: cheese pizza

And the basic of basics, the cheese pizza, is a must! The cheese itself is so tasty that it's delicious even without toppings.

One slice is bigger than your palm. You'll be shocked when you see it in person haha

Every pizza I ordered that day was so good that I feel like I'd order the exact same ones next time haha But the number one is White Mushroom!!

The texture was chewier than I expected and crispier than I hoped, and above all I was so happy to be able to try a bit of everything 🌞

How much did the pizza and beer cost in total at Gagas Pizza?

At Gagas Pizza I ordered five slices plus a Budweiser draft and a Coke Zero, and it came to only ₩35,000!! Pizza can't go without beer haha The beer and pizza combo is a must!!

Maybe because I was eating near Sokcho Beach, I got drunk on the atmosphere.. 🍕

The prices are so easy on the wallet even when you order a lot haha

At Gagas Pizza you can order a bit of everything by the slice, and it seems great when you want a quick bite near Sokcho Beach or need takeout. It was a happy, different kind of experience on my Sokcho trip. The dough was delicious too, so I finished everything!! If you come to Sokcho Beach, I recommend trying Gagas Pizza and its hip New York feel.
