Sinnonhyeon café with a blueberry yogurt smoothie for three: Selecto

After hanging out in Gangnam with friends, we stopped by Selecto Coffee, a 24-hour café near Sinnonhyeon Station that's great for a quiet chat. Here's my write-up! ( •̀ ω •́ )✧

My friends and I have chatted over coffee at Selecto before. Being a 24-hour café near Sinnonhyeon Station makes it super accessible, and even when no staff are around, you can still order through the auto-brew machine. You can order at the counter or by kiosk!

Sandwich sold out? Just ask — they'll make one on the spot

We ordered americanos, a smoked salmon sandwich, and a blueberry yogurt smoothie. The showcase sandwiches were almost all sold out, but staff told us they'd make whichever one we wanted right then. If you visit Selecto and don't see a sandwich, just ask the staff!

The smoked salmon sandwich came out looking delicious, along with our iced americanos — the blueberry yogurt smoothie took a bit longer since it's a smoothie, of course.

Choosing beans for the americano: two geisha blends

At Selecto Coffee you can choose your beans for the americano, so both nutty-flavor lovers and acidity lovers can be satisfied. My friend and I both like acidity, so we ordered both americanos with the geisha blend.

Good for both meetups and working alone?

Most of the seats are plush chairs like these, so it's comfortable to sit for a long meetup. The interior overall has a wood and ivory tone — bright yet calm — and solo seats and group seating are split around the counter, so it's good for people quietly working alone too.

The smoked salmon sandwich — filling even split three ways

The smoked salmon sandwich really exceeded expectations. It was under ₩10,000, but packed full of salmon, so it felt quite filling. We actually ordered it as a snack after lunch when we weren't that hungry, but the portion was so big we nearly felt stuffed... haha

Since there were three of us, we grabbed a knife to split the salmon sandwich. But it didn't cut easily... hahaha. We managed to saw through it anyway. Sharing every last bite, that's us ^_^

At Selecto Coffee, the solo seats are set up almost like a mini study room, so a lot of people were working there. It seemed like a nice spot to enjoy a simple sandwich and coffee while studying alone. And since it's a 24-hour café near Sinnonhyeon Station, you can drop by whenever you want without worrying about time.

The 24-hour auto-brew machine and dessert showcase

During staffed hours, the 24-hour auto-brew machine is usually covered up, but it looked like they'd opened it slightly, maybe for product display, while working. I snapped a photo haha. Besides coffee and drinks, desserts are also available from the fridge showcase, so it's great if you want a late-night bakery treat. There are more 24-hour cafés around now, but most only sell drinks, which is a bit disappointing — Selecto lets you get dessert too, which is nice.

Since my friends and I usually hang out near Sinnonhyeon Station, I think we'll be back at Selecto Coffee for our next meetup. If you're looking for a meeting spot or a place to work near Sinnonhyeon, I recommend it! It's close to the station too, so it seems like a good place to spend time if you miss the last train... haha
