Hongdae couple shoot makeup with first false lashes: Today Makeup

I had a profile photo shoot with my boyfriend today, so I stopped by Today Makeup, a makeup salon in Hongdae! I'm hopeless with my hands, so I hardly ever do eye makeup, but on important days you want to look pretty, right? So today I decided to leave it to the pros!

Where is Today Makeup, and how do you book and park?

Today Makeup is at 26-8 Woldeukeopbuk-ro 1-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, on the 2nd floor. I booked through Naver Booking and went in. It's close to Hongik Univ. Station, so I recommend going by public transport.

Before your visit they send a text message with detailed directions and parking info, so it's not hard to find!

It's near Hongik Univ. Station, so public transport is the way to go. There aren't many parking spaces, and if it's full you'll need a nearby paid lot! 🙌

How did I consult on the style I wanted?

Before visiting, I looked up photos of the makeup I wanted! 👇 This is the look I was after 👇

Inside Today Makeup

The first thing I noticed walking in was how clean it is! White-toned interior with bright lighting, like a celebrity's waiting room haha.

There's even a nice spot for taking photos, and the whole place feels private and well kept, so you can relax during your treatment!

There's a huge range of products, from shadows and blushers to base makeup, so it was fun just to look at haha.

How the makeup went and how long it took 💄

The Natural Mood hair and makeup at Today Makeup took about 1 hour 40 minutes, from prepping the skin to styling the hair. ❗️Bare-face warning 🥲

I was worried because my skin is bumpy, with acne marks and big pores..haha. They started with a soothing sheet mask and prepped my skin. After that 👇

It went in that order. I had the Natural Mood hair and makeup, and the total time was about 1 hour 40 minutes!

My first false lashes ever: would they look awkward? 👀

The false lashes I tried for the first time at Today Makeup made my eyes look bigger in a natural way, not over the top. I've honestly never worn false lashes, so I worried they'd feel a bit awkward, but

What do you think!? I love it so much, I can hardly believe these are my eyes.. My dull eyes got defined haha.

It wasn't a heavy, dark look, just a natural eye-enlarging effect, and I was really happy with it! I was a little worried at first that it would look awkward, but as the makeup came together that worry vanished completely. The touch of a pro really is different!

Natural CS curl hair styling

At Today Makeup, a different stylist did my hair from the one who did my makeup. As I'd asked, she styled a natural CS curl that suited the makeup! On top of that, all the staff were so kind that I felt very comfortable! The curls softly frame my face shape, making me look much neater and more feminine!

Results: acne marks, pores and redness covered

They covered the redness and pores I usually worry about so naturally that my skin looks much cleaner and the whole mood is brighter😍 I stared into the mirror all day and took tons of selfies haha. I feel like I was given a truly happy today!

Even a touch-up lip to take home: overall verdict on Today Makeup

Before I left, Today Makeup packed a touch-up lip product and a small pouch for me to take home! 🥰 It seems many people come not just for daily makeup but especially for wedding makeup!

There was definitely a difference in how they bring out skin texture and the best parts of your face naturally, which is hard to do on your own. Having tried it, I get why people leave important days to a professional!

Even though it was my first visit, the staff were kind and made it comfortable, so my nerves eased a lot.
