Low Five Sinpung is a Western-style restaurant in a converted house at the entrance to Haengridan-gil in Haenggung-dong, Suwon. After a weekday-lunch wait, a window bar table at Low Five Sinpung held corn pizza (25,000 won), shrimp spicy rigatoni (18,000 won) and a glass of Urmeneta Chardonnay (8,000 won). The sweet-and-spicy corn pizza with the dry white wine was the best pairing, and the leftover pizza was boxed up to take home.

Suwon Ingye-dong bone soup restaurant with mild spice: Eolkeunhan

Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch is a 24-hour pork bone soup restaurant on the ground floor of the Drama City building in Ingye-dong, Suwon. A couple ordered the ugeoji (dried radish greens) bone soup at regular spice and the basic bone soup at mild spice for a diner who can't handle heat, and even without the chilli the broth was deep and clean enough to empty both earthenware bowls. Free ice cream such as Bibibig and Melona after the meal made Eolkeunhan Ppyeo Haejangguk good value.

Pineapple and chickpea salmon poke dinner in Gangnam: Ola Poke

Ola Poke Gangnam is a poke salad restaurant a 3-minute walk from Exit 4 of Gangnam Station on the Sinbundang Line in Gangnam, Seoul. After a meeting nearby, the writer had a salmon poke bowl for dinner: even a minimal drizzle of sriracha mayo kept its spicy, savory kick, while chickpeas and pineapple broke up the clean flavors. The oat and barley mixed-grain rice satisfied carb cravings even while dieting, making Ola Poke Gangnam an easy solo dinner.
