What kind of café is Coffee Grip?

Coffee Grip is a café at 17 Geonganggwa-ro, Wonju, Gangwon, right near the National Health Insurance Service in the Innovation City area. I heard the owner had recently changed and that the atmosphere and service had gotten even better, so I went to check it out — and the new owner's kindness genuinely made me happy! I'd especially recommend this place to anyone looking for a good café near the National Health Insurance Service, or office workers wanting to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee♡

A white-toned space good for working alone on a laptop

The first thing that caught my eye walking into Coffee Grip was the clean interior!

The simple white-toned space paired with soft lighting gave off a sense of calm that felt totally different from the busy Innovation City outside haha!! It wasn't loud, so it was good for conversation, and also perfect for working alone on a laptop or reading a book!!

I heard the owner had changed, and from ordering to receiving the drinks, the service was kind the whole way through, which made the visit really pleasant 👍👍 The kindness alone made me want to come back a second, a third time!

The meaning behind the name 'Coffee Grip'

The name Coffee Grip left quite an impression too~ On the wall of the shop, the meaning of 'Grip' was written out! 'To understand, to hold firmly, to captivate.' The idea is that they understand coffee, hold it in their hands, and ultimately capture people's hearts — pretty full of sentiment, right?

How does the signature grip latte taste?

First up, the signature grip latte!! It passes the looks test right away, doesn't it haha? A generous layer of sweet-and-savory cream sits on top, and the moment you take the first sip, a rich nutty flavor fills your mouth♡

The sweetness wasn't overdone, and the balance between the coffee and cream was really good~ Tasting the cream first and then drinking it together with the coffee brought out even more flavor~ The Americano we ordered alongside let you choose between nutty or acidic! Hongsik's family prefers nutty~ but either style felt easy for anyone to enjoy! It's a clean way to finish off lunch, so I think it'll be popular with office workers looking for a café near the National Health Insurance Service!

Homemade mascarpone tiramisu

Coffee Grip makes its desserts in-house too♡ The mascarpone tiramisu was full of rich espresso aroma and smooth cheese flavor! It was moist but not too sweet, so the balance with the coffee was really nice^^ With plenty of cocoa powder on top, it felt like eating a proper tiramisu!

₩2,500 egg tart

The egg tart was such great value♡ Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, with a buttery pastry texture that was really good! At ₩2,500 it's almost unbelievable — so, so, so satisfying haha. Can you see how plump it looks? haha. A perfect light dessert to enjoy with a cup of coffee♡

A good spot for a morning commute or a lunch break

True to its reputation as a good café in Bangok-dong, this is a really convenient spot for office workers to stop by! Since it opens early in the morning, you can grab a coffee on your way to work!! Being near the National Health Insurance Service, it's great for a coffee after lunch, and the quiet atmosphere also seemed good for meetings or conversations~ The atmosphere felt totally comfortable to visit alone too, which I liked even more!

These days, coffee taste matters, but I think the cafés that get remembered — and loved for a long time — are the ones where the space and the kindness stick with you too♡ Gift wrapping is available as well, so it makes a nice surprise gift for a coworker^^
