I'd been craving sashimi for ages, so on my day off I made a trip to Jumunjin in Gangneung to eat some haha. Since I was already all the way out in Jumunjin, I figured I'd pack fresh sashimi to go and eat it comfortably back at the campsite.
So I looked around for a place to get sashimi packed for takeout, and it turned out Minja Hoetjip (민자횟집) inside Jumunjin Fish Market is a popular spot for exactly that?! Minja Hoetjip is located at 3-3 Sijang 2-gil, Jumunjin-eup, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do, inside Jumunjin Fish Market. It's open daily from 8am to 9pm, and closed on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month.

You can park at the Jumunjin Haean Parking Tower for Minja Hoetjip. It's less than a minute's walk from the parking tower to the restaurant haha!!
After you order sashimi to go, they give you a 1-hour parking voucher. So no need to worry about parking 😆

Minja Hoetjip is tucked inside Jumunjin Fish Market. Park at the tower, cross the crosswalk, and you'll see the market entrance — go into that alley and it's right there!
There was so much fresh fish and snow crab around 👍🏻 The place is famous for sashimi, but people seem to order a lot of snow crab too since it's just as good.

There was a great variety of fish, and best of all, it was all domestic. They run a special discount price for takeout — small is ₩40,000, medium ₩60,000, large ₩80,000. Plus they throw in free extras, so honestly the value is fantastic.
The inside of Minja Hoetjip is pretty spacious too. There's even an annex next door, so it seems like a good spot for group visits.

I got the small mixed sashimi platter to go 😊 They packed the sashimi and the free seafood sides into a cooler bag, along with garlic, ssamjang (thick soybean paste dip), chojang (vinegar chili sauce with soy sauce and wasabi), and even lettuce — it was generous 👍🏻
Even though it was the small size, the portion was genuinely huge. And the sashimi cuts were thick too 🥹 Since I was taking it to eat at a campsite, I worried the fish might get jostled or the packaging might not hold up, but they packed it neatly in the cooler bag so it was easy to carry. Once I unpacked it, there turned out to be way more than expected hahaha.
And the free sides — steamed shrimp, abalone, whelk, sea squirt 🧡 There was plenty for two people, and since it wasn't just raw fish but also things to eat alongside, I didn't need to prep anything else separately.
Every single thing was tasty and fresh. I'm especially a sea squirt fanatic hahaha, and this sea squirt was truly fresh and delicious. Full-on ocean flavor 🌊
The five kinds of fish in the small platter, and how they tasted
The small mixed platter at Minja Hoetjip had 5 types of fish. The cuts were thick and fresh with no fishy smell, so it disappeared in no time...... 😆👍🏻 Each fish had a slightly different texture, so I dipped some in chojang and dabbed others with soy sauce and wasabi hahaha. You might worry that takeout sashimi loses flavor or freshness, but Minja Hoetjip's fish was in such good condition that I was completely satisfied!!!
The lettuce, garlic, and chili peppers were all fresh too, so wrapping bites in lettuce was pure bliss ✨. A piece of sashimi with lettuce and garlic added a nice crunch to the whole bite, which made it even better haha. I love eating sashimi wrapped in lettuce anyway, so eating it this way after a while felt absolutely amazing 🧡
Getting to eat the sashimi I'd been craving, packed fresh and generous from Jumunjin, was so satisfying.
