Why Bigeumdo for breakfast in Sokcho?
Bigeumdo is a Korean restaurant on Sinheung 2-gil in Sokcho, close to Sono Felice Delpino, so it was an easy find for a breakfast stop. Breakfast is always a bit of a puzzle when I'm traveling — especially with a kid, when you want something gentle rather than heavy or spicy. Looking for somewhere easy on the stomach for breakfast, we ended up eating well and filling up at Bigeumdo!

That day, a warm soup and a solid bowl of rice left us feeling comfortable and in a good mood. What I liked most was how many dishes worked for both kid and adult at the same table.

Bigeumdo felt calm and clean overall — the neighborhood was nice too! The quiet feel made an early visit feel even more unhurried. Mornings on a trip can get hectic with everything you have to pack in, but here the relaxed atmosphere made it easy to eat slowly and start the day at our own pace.

If you're traveling in Sokcho with kids, the Sokcho City Museum looks like a solid option too — a good pick for a rainy or too-hot day when outdoor plans don't work. It's not just indoor exhibits either; there's an outdoor folk village, so it seems pretty good if you enjoy hands-on activities.

Eating while looking out at the green scenery through the window at Bigeumdo made me feel relaxed for no particular reason. A hearty meal plus a green view outside — it felt like proper vacation ease.
Bigeumdo's menu: what works for kids?
The menu at Bigeumdo was more varied than I expected — tofu stew, dried pollack soup, pollack rice soup, mulhoe, abalone hot pot rice set, barley-marinated yellow croaker set, stir-fried pork, abalone porridge, and more. With a kid, dishes like tofu stew, pollack rice soup, or abalone porridge are easy, gentle choices.

Mulhoe and stir-fried pork looked good too, but we went with dried pollack soup and tofu stew!
Bigeumdo's side dishes, one by one

The side dishes that came out were all neat and tidy. Rather than overly salty or spicy morning banchan, these were easy to pair with rice — nice. My kid did well with the seasoned eggplant and stir-fried potato strips!

Small plates and baby spoons are self-serve :) Then out came the dried pollack soup and tofu stew!

Just looking at it felt like a solid breakfast. This particular combo was really nice too — the cool, clean dried pollack soup on one side and the hot, savory tofu stew on the other, two different charms to pick between and enjoy.
Hwangtae haejangguk: dried pollack soup, generously filled

The warm broth had a generous amount of dried pollack in it, which made it look filling right away. Bean sprouts went in too, keeping the broth cool and clean. You get protein from the pollack, and with the bean sprouts it felt like an easy way to get some nutrition in without weighing you down first thing in the morning. It was also easy to cut the pollack small and feed it to my kid with rice — a pretty solid breakfast option for kids too, I thought.
Bigeumdo, officially approved as a Sokcho breakfast restaurant! And parents know this feeling — a hot, clean broth like this is such a relief the morning after. Perfect as a hangover-recovery dish for mom and dad too!
Bigeumdo's tofu stew and its savory depth

The broth wasn't sharp or spicy but had a quiet savoriness that made a whole bowl of rice disappear!
The tofu was soft, so it was easy for my kid to eat too. After one spoonful they seemed fine with it, and then just kept eating rice and tofu really well. The most rewarding moment eating out with a kid is when they actually eat well, haha. It was also gentle enough for adults, which suited it well as a breakfast dish.
Is Bigeumdo worth it for a family breakfast in Sokcho?

With a wide range of kid-friendly dishes and every side dish neatly presented, the whole family could enjoy a meal without any fuss. Add in the quiet, comfortable atmosphere, and we could eat unhurried and at ease first thing in the morning — great!
It was a breakfast that left both kid and adults satisfied, filling and easy on the stomach. On a trip, what matters for breakfast is something that isn't too heavy but still sets you up well for the day, and in that sense Bigeumdo was exactly the right meal for our family.
