Bupyeong pub with new ₩36,000 yukhoe and salmon: Bupyeong Pocha
In short
Bupyeong Pocha is a retro-style pojangmacha (Korean tent-style pub) in Bupyeong, Incheon, about 400m from Bupyeong Station Exit 5. On a Sunday around 6pm, two friends ordered Bupyeong Pocha's new yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) and salmon dish for ₩36,000. It came with complimentary corn cheese, an old-style lunchbox (dosirak) and mussel soup, and the salmon was aged, rich in flavor, free of any fishy smell and generously portioned. Bupyeong Pocha is an easy, unpretentious Bupyeong bar for a drink with raw-fish and beef tartare snacks.

Today I took a trip to Incheon with a friend I hadn't seen in a while. We were hunting for a good pub in Bupyeong and heard about a place that has been around forever, so we went to check it out. Here's my story of trying the new yukhoe + salmon set at Bupyeong Pocha.
Bupyeong Pocha location, hours and parking
Bupyeong Pocha is at 35 Gyeongwon-daero 1367beon-gil, Bupyeong-gu, Incheon (1st floor). It's open Sun–Thu 16:00–02:00 and Fri–Sat 16:00–03:00. There is no parking.

This is the place we went: Bupyeong Pocha (부평포차)! It's about 400m from Bupyeong Station Exit 5, and the exterior is full of that old-school vibe. There's no parking lot, but if you're driving, I'd suggest a nearby public parking lot. We were planning to drink, so we took public transport.

Inside Bupyeong Pocha: atmosphere and restroom
The inside is full of pojangmacha (street-tent pub) atmosphere. It's an old place but clean, and the restroom is separate, inside the restaurant. We came around 6pm on a Sunday, and by the time we left it was full.
I liked that it's old-school but clean, and having the restroom inside was great. I run to the restroom a lot whenever I drink, so this matters to me haha. Lots of people had reserved tables ahead, and it kept filling up, so it was packed when we left. It seems to be well known as a Bupyeong pub already.

Bupyeong Pocha menu
The menu centers on seafood and raw fish, with soups, stir-fried meat and other dishes too. The new yukhoe + salmon suddenly sounded so good that I ordered it as if in a trance.
As soon as we sat down they brought a tray-style (obong) menu, which was so cute. It looked a bit hard to read, though, so I also photographed the menu on the wall! There are lots of dishes, so it seemed like it could suit everyone's taste.

What free starters does Bupyeong Pocha serve?
The starters are corn cheese, an old-style lunchbox and mussel soup. The soup broth can be refilled for free, while more corn cheese or lunchbox costs extra.
The corn cheese was way better than I expected, so I got a refill.. The mussel soup had bean sprouts in it and was really refreshing, and the lunchbox was perfect for soothing and warming up the stomach before drinking.

The water cup was so cute that I took a photo haha. Doesn't it have total pojangmacha charm?!

Bupyeong Pocha yukhoe + salmon for ₩36,000: taste and portion
The new yukhoe + salmon costs ₩36,000 and comes as a full platter of yukhoe and salmon with salad, various sauces and side dishes. Everything is made to order, so allow a little extra time for it to come out.

It comes with chojang (sweet chili vinegar sauce), soy sauce, tartar sauce, capers and even salad!

A close-up of the yukhoe and salmon, which looked so fresh! The salmon had no fishy smell at all and had a wonderfully well-aged savory depth. The yukhoe was nicely seasoned with a nutty flavor that kept me going back for more.

There are lots of things to eat it with, so everyone can build their own bite. My friend went with the salad, and I went with wasabi~ yum yum

The yukhoe was chewy and so delicious ღ It was the kind of snack combo that makes the drinks disappear. I actually wanted to try other dishes too, but the portion was surprisingly big and we were stuffed. Next time I want to try the flounder and I'm curious about the soups! From the quality of the yukhoe and salmon alone, I've already confirmed this is a great Bupyeong pub!
Overall verdict on Bupyeong Pocha
Bupyeong Pocha was an easy, relaxed pojangmacha to enjoy. It's easy to get to and the food is good, so I recommend it to you too.
