Damgeum Gelato Misa Branch is an authentic Italian handmade gelato shop inside Mono Lounge on Misagangbyeon Hangang-ro in Hanam, Gyeonggi. After a spicy braised half-dried pollack dinner, the writer stopped in for a palate cleanser on the terrace and tried Jeju lemon, Gyeongsan nectarine, Purespec Black Label orange and stracciatella. Lower sugar and milkfat give Damgeum Gelato a sorbet-like lightness that finishes clean.
Appa Jjim Hanam Main Branch is a Korean restaurant on Wolho-ro in Hanam, Gyeonggi, serving braised dried pollock with dried radish greens and braised monkfish. The writer came with her mom and younger sibling and ordered the small-size braised pollock with the spice level dialed down, plus a crispy seafood pancake and suhyangmi pot rice, and even the small size was more than the three of them could finish. Staff deboned every piece of pollock and the wide dedicated parking lot makes Appa Jjim an easy choice for a meal with parents.
Remangdore Seorae Village Branch is a bakery dessert café on Saepyeong-daero 26-gil in Seorae Village, Seocho, Seoul, a short walk from the Express Bus Terminal. On a late-afternoon visit, the writer ordered sweet pumpkin cream cheese country bread, financiers and madeleines with a dark roast coffee that had no sourness, taking a window seat because the outdoor terrace was already full. Remangdore is worth an earlier visit if you want both a terrace seat and the full lineup of baked treats, since some financier and madeleine flavors sell out by late afternoon.
