Spicy crab risotto at Seongsu Darak, an attic-style Seongsu restaurant
In short
Seongsu Darak is an attic-themed Western restaurant on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Compose building on Ttukseom-ro 9-gil in Seongdong-gu, Seoul. On a weekday afternoon we walked into Seongsu Darak with no wait and had the spicy crab risotto (19,000 won), the pork neck steak (24,000 won) and the Seongsu lemonade that turns purple (6,900 won). The cream risotto, stir-fried in chili oil, never got heavy, which makes Seongsu Darak a creamy-food spot worth recommending to anyone looking for a date restaurant in Seongsu.

🍝 Seongsu Darak (성수다락) — a Seongsu restaurant | a hot Seongsu pasta spot. A Seongsu go-to for The Boyz fans right now and a great date restaurant: Seongsu Darak
Is there a wait at Seongsu Darak on weekdays?
I went to Seongsu Darak on a weekday afternoon and got seated right away with no wait. Even so, it was packed, as you'd expect from a hot spot in Seongsu.

I finally visited Seongsu Darak, a name you can't skip when talking about Seongsu's popular restaurants. I'd heard a wait is a must on weekends, so I went on a weekday, and it was still full of people, true to its hot-spot reputation. I was worried there'd be a wait even on a weekday, but luckily I got a seat right away 🤍
Where is the Seongsu Darak entrance?
Seongsu Darak uses both the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Compose building, and the white door is the way in. The entrance is confusing and the ceiling is low, so watch your head as you go in.

Both the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Compose building are Seongsu Darak! The entrance is confusing, but this white door is the way in. The ceiling at the entrance is low, so be careful❗️

Once you go through the secret-looking door, you climb stairs like these. A real attic-room (darakbang) feel, fully realized at Seongsu Darak 🫶🏻
Seongsu Darak interior: attic atmosphere and seating
The inside of Seongsu Darak feels like a warm attic, with big picture windows that let in lots of light. The space is small, but it's split across the 2nd and 3rd floors, so there were more seats than I expected.

It was full of customers, so taking interior photos was hard, but I caught a moment when people had left and got some 🫶🏻 The seats right by the window are especially pretty 🤍
Can you feel the warm attic vibe? The place is small, but with the 2nd and 3rd floors there were more seats than I thought. I loved the huge picture windows letting in bright light.

There's a The Boyz goods corner in one corner. Apparently Hyunjae from The Boyz visited, and there's even a "Hyunjae set meal" because of it. Is that why there were so many foreigners..? Grandma doesn't know!

How does Seongsu Darak's spicy crab risotto taste? (19,000 won)
The spicy crab risotto at Seongsu Darak is ₩19,000: a thick, rich cream risotto with a little kick. It's fried in chili oil, so even though it's cream it never got heavy, and it had real crab meat in it.

I was craving a rich, spicy cream, so I ordered the spicy crab risotto!! Lots of people were ordering the spicy cream pasta too, so I agonized a hundred times over pasta or risotto 🥲 I think this place is a real cream specialist.

You know those times you want a thick cream with just a little spice? Sob, it was so good. Maybe because the risotto is fried in chili oil, it's creamy but never got heavy. And it had real crab meat in it.

The crab is prepared so it's easy to pull out the meat, so I happily shoveled risotto together with the crab.

Chewy and delicious
What comes with Seongsu Darak's pork neck steak? (24,000 won)
The chopped pork neck steak at Seongsu Darak is ₩24,000 and comes with grilled pork neck, grilled vegetables and mashed potatoes. You get protein and veggies on one plate, and the grilled vegetables were especially good.

Grilled pork neck, grilled vegetables and mashed potatoes too🤍 A dish where you can eat both protein and veggies. If you're a protein person like me, you have to get the meat.

Even the vegetables I normally refuse to eat were grilled so well that they were heavenly.

Dip the steak into the mashed potatoes

Add whole-grain mustard sauce and wasabi on top and it's even more delicious!
Seongsu Darak's purple Seongsu lemonade (6,900 won)
The Seongsu lemonade at Seongsu Darak is ₩6,900 and turns a pretty purple when you mix it. I couldn't believe even the lemonade could be this pretty.

Can even the lemonade here be this pretty?

Give it a quick stir and it becomes a gorgeous purple ade
Is Seongsu Darak a good date restaurant in Seongsu?
Seongsu Darak had so many customers that you really feel it's a hot spot in Seongsu. I recommend it to anyone looking for a Seongsu date restaurant🤍

There are so many distinctive dishes I want to try, so next time I'm going back for the pastas I haven't had yet.
