Doseogwan Dwitjip is a Chinese restaurant in the backstreets behind Cheongdeok Library in Giheung-gu, Yongin. Over dinner with his wife, the writer shared the two-person hot plate fried jjajangmyeon (22,000 won) and the glutinous rice tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), and the hot plate kept sizzling so the noodles stayed warm to the last bite, with crisp nurungji (scorched rice) hidden underneath to scrape up. Doseogwan Dwitjip is a solid choice for two people who want a filling dinner.

Sangam noodle restaurant lunch for two at 31,000 won: Sangam Hoegwan

Sangam Hoegwan is a Korean noodle restaurant in the basement food court of Sangam IT Tower in Sangam-dong, Mapo, Seoul. On a visit with his wife, the writer ordered a large kongguksu (chilled soy milk noodles) for 11,000 won, bibim guksu for 8,000 won, kimchi jeon for 8,000 won and a plate of mandu for 4,000 won — 31,000 won for two — and found the soy broth thick and nutty, with the kimchi served alongside especially good. With the large size priced the same as the regular and 2 hours of free parking, Sangam Hoegwan is worth a stop for a filling lunch in Sangam-dong.
