Bucheon food hall gift idea: paint-can potato chips, Angry Potato

Here's my takeout review of Angry Potato in the food hall of the Hyundai Department Store in Jungdong, Bucheon. It's not just regular fries: the menu also has potato chips, chewy potatoes, crunch chicken, mini burgers and more.

Angry Potato Hyundai Department Store Jungdong Branch: location and hours

Angry Potato Hyundai Department Store Jungdong Branch (앵그리포테이토 현대백화점 중동점) is in the B1 food hall of the Hyundai Department Store at 180 Gilju-ro, Wonmi-gu, Bucheon, right in front of the up escalator. It's open Mon–Thu 10:30–20:00 and Fri–Sun 10:00–20:30. It's a good spot for a snack near Bucheon City Hall.

Is Angry Potato only about fries?

Not at all. Angry Potato is more than a fries place. Between the potato dishes, chicken, mini burgers and chips, there's a lot to choose from, which makes ordering fun.

The sample corner next to the register

Next to the register at the Jungdong branch there's a sample corner, so you can taste before you buy. If you're passing by, definitely try a sample.

Fill your own takeout with 8 sauces

Another signature of Angry Potato is the sauces. There are 8 kinds you can buy separately, and you fill your own container. Mix and match to your taste. Just hold the container under the sauce and squeeze, like pumping ketchup.

What I ordered for takeout and the prices

It took about 5 minutes after ordering. Takeout containers are also set out at the pickup counter.

Is the Chewy Potato still chewy as takeout?

Chewy Potato is cooked to order, so if you eat it right away you get that crispy outside, chewy inside texture. I took mine home, and the potatoes that started out round had gone a little flat by the time I got there.

The crispiness was gone, but it was chewy just like the name says, with a mild, plain flavor I liked. The potato taste really comes through, so it's good on its own, and dipping it in the sauces I brought home gave it a different charm.

How the Chili's Cheese Sticks taste

The Chili's Cheese Sticks are flat, wide cheese sticks generously coated in chili sauce. They're said to be made with 100% natural whole mozzarella, and the sweet, spicy chili sauce goes surprisingly well with the cheese. I think cheese sticks are best eaten warm, when you get that stretchy pull. If you take them home, a quick reheat in the air fryer should make them much better.

Hot Crunch chicken: the takeout winner

Hot Crunch chicken was the one I was most satisfied with among this takeout. The coating stayed crispy and the seasoning was just right, so it's tasty even without any sauce. Of course, it also goes well dipped in sauce.

Maybe because it's 100% chicken thigh meat, it was juicy inside and nicely fried and crispy outside. It works as a light meal or as a snack for kids.

Paint-can chips tin: how about as a gift?

The Can Angry Potato Chips (₩13,000) are fried from fresh potatoes and packed into an Angry Potato can. The tin looks like a big paint bucket, and the stylish packaging made me want one. The lid has a coin slot so you can use it as a piggy bank.

When I opened the lid, the bag inside was packed full of Angry Potato chips.

The chips are big with a good thickness, so the crunch is satisfying. I thought they'd be perfect instead of popcorn when watching a movie at CGV, and great with beer too. There's quite a lot in there, so you can eat as much as you like. The packaging is so pretty that the tin works as a storage box or small-item case, and it looks like a good gift too.

Angry Potato Hyundai Department Store Jungdong Branch has everything from light bites to heartier items, so it's a good snack spot and even works for a date. It's easy for a quick bite while shopping, and good for taking home to enjoy, so I found it satisfying value for money too.
