Hand drip café in Hagik-dong, Incheon: iced Ethiopia Aricha, Tiny Dot

In short

Tiny Dot (타이니닷) is a four-story roastery café in Hagik-dong, Michuhol, Incheon, near the entrance of Juan Hansin Apartments. On the owner's recommendation, the writer ordered Ethiopia Aricha beans as an iced hand drip with Basque cheesecake and an Earl Grey scone, and enjoyed both the fruity coffee and the house-baked desserts. For a quiet cup of specialty hand drip coffee, Tiny Dot's third floor is the place to sit.

I stopped by Tiny Dot (타이니닷), a big Juan café that is serious about coffee, for hand drip coffee, Basque cheesecake and an Earl Grey scone.

Where is Tiny Dot, and what are the hours and parking?

Tiny Dot is on Juseung-ro 96beon-gil in Michuhol-gu, Incheon. It is open 10:00–20:30 on weekdays (Mon–Fri) and 11:00–20:30 on weekends (Sat–Sun). Parking is available too.

What kind of roastery café is Tiny Dot?

Tiny Dot is a large roastery café that roasts and manages its own beans behind the first-floor counter. It was bigger than I expected, and you can tell they take coffee seriously.

Behind the counter you can see the space where the beans are roasted and managed. It's not just a shop selling coffee; the scale of the bean handling is impressive, almost like a coffee factory. It raised my hopes of getting a really good cup made from proper beans.

Can you choose the beans for hand drip?

At Tiny Dot you can pick the beans you want for hand drip, and the beans are sold separately too. There were so many specialty beans that I couldn't decide, so I asked the owner for a recommendation, and he explained kindly.

The bean I ordered on his recommendation was Ethiopia Arica, and they brewed the hand drip right in front of me.

What's on the menu and which desserts are there?

Tiny Dot has a wide menu, from hand drip to signature drinks.

For desserts, there's Basque cheesecake as the cake, and scones, salt bread and croffles among the baked goods. They say everything is baked in-house every day.

How do the seats differ from floor to floor?

The building has 4 floors and an elevator, which makes it easy to move around with drinks. I carried my drink and dessert up to the 3rd floor, and it's a thoughtful touch that, since you have to carry your order, there are small tables in front of the elevator and inside it too.

The mood changes a little from floor to floor. The first floor has the coffee factory and the counter,

and the second floor is mostly 4-person seats. It was full on a weekday afternoon, so Tiny Dot is clearly a popular café in Hagik-dong.

  • 2F: mostly 4-person seats
  • 3F: mostly 1- and 2-person seats, relatively quiet
  • 4F: group seating (not open on the day I visited)

Every floor has a restroom, which is handy. The 3rd floor felt good for reading or working alone, and it was fine for chatting too.

How does the Ethiopia Arica iced hand drip taste?

The iced hand drip Ethiopia Arica at Tiny Dot had a really lovely fruity aroma from the very first sip. I picked up a fresh fruit scent and gentle acidity, and it went so well with cold iced coffee. It's light rather than heavy, perfect for a hot day.

How were the Basque cheesecake and Earl Grey scone?

Basque cheesecake

The Basque cheesecake at Tiny Dot isn't sweet and keeps a rich cheese flavor, which surprised me. The dense yet soft texture was great, and it paired wonderfully with the acidic coffee. Next time I want to eat it with a hot coffee!

Earl Grey scone

The Earl Grey scone at Tiny Dot is totally classy too. The butter aroma hits you first the moment it's in your mouth. It's crisp outside and fairly moist inside, and it still keeps that slightly throat-catching charm that scones have. The Earl Grey scent isn't overpowering but spreads softly, so it goes nicely with coffee.

Tiny Dot isn't just good at coffee; it feels like they put real effort into their desserts too.

Coffee, desserts and space were all satisfying. Tiny Dot is a big Juan café that's great for quietly enjoying a cup of coffee.
