Brick Rouge, a large café near Simhaksan in Paju

Great bread and a pretty rooftop~

Paju has so many big cafés! Besides the ones everyone knows by name, like Dirty Trunk and Malddong Donut, there are plenty more, and I'm working through them one by one, stamp-collecting style! Today I went to Brick Rouge (브릭루즈), near Simhaksan.

Is parking easy at Brick Rouge in Paju?

Brick Rouge's biggest plus is that parking is super, super easy. It's not a parking tower, it's all surface lots, with lots both in front of and behind the building. Perfect for a family day out by car!

There's a huge lot behind the building too. And there's even another separate Brick Rouge lot across the street?! I don't think you'd ever have to turn back because you couldn't park.

Inside Brick Rouge: atmosphere and merchandise

The interior uses lots of fancy lighting, and the antique-style wooden tables are quite imposing. My mom loves wooden tables, so she was really happy with Brick Rouge.

One corner of the café sells all kinds of goods. There are cute T-shirts and phone cases, but also classy wooden cutting boards, wooden spoons, cooking tools, tumblers and more!

Brick Rouge serves brunch that's good enough to count as a proper weekend meal. It's basically a Western restaurant, haha! I saw someone order the Big Brunch and wow, it was really generous~ Sadly we'd already had lunch, so we ordered bread and drinks.

The variety of bakery items at Brick Rouge is huge! To help you pick your bread, I photographed the whole bakery lineup!! Please check the photos for prices~

There are also macarons and roll cakes, which are cute as gifts, and slice cakes that go nicely with coffee. They even have mini round cakes, so a small birthday celebration is possible too~!

Brick Rouge also has wireless internet (Wi-Fi). If you're curious, just check at the counter, haha.

Is Brick Rouge good for babies and parents?

The 3rd floor has loads of baby chairs and floor seating too, so it's a good café to visit with a baby. The furniture isn't uniform, with all kinds of chairs and tables laid out, so you can pick the spot you like. Those with babies will probably find the floor seating more comfortable, and if you like soft seats, there are sofas and well-cushioned chairs.

And the babies weren't noisy or crying either, since each parent was taking good care of theirs. I figured it would be loud, but nobody cried and the babies were happily playing together, which surprised me!

On the 4th floor there are bookshelves for kids and rooftop terrace seats. Since it's the 4th floor, you get a nice high view far into the distance.

Desserts at Brick Rouge: sweet pumpkin cake and blueberry scone

Homemade sweet pumpkin cake, ₩6,500

The homemade sweet pumpkin cake was my parents' pick! I was curious how it would taste, and it was a healthy cake: not very sweet and plain, with the natural sweetness of the pumpkin fitting in really well. Looking at the cross-section, there's really a lot of pumpkin in it. My parents loved it~

Blueberry scone, ₩3,500

The blueberry scone comes with blueberry jam on top. The scone is dry and crumbly, but eaten with the blueberry jam it's less of a throat-clogger. The sweet blueberry jam pairs well with the scone.

How are the drinks at Brick Rouge?

Iced white cream einspänner, ₩7,000

I heard the white cream einspänner (coffee topped with cream) is one of Brick Rouge's best-selling drinks. The white cream layer on top is super thick, which I liked. You all know that lots of cream means sweet and delicious, right~ The harmony of chocolate, cream and coffee is great too.

Hot café latte, ₩6,000

The café latte comes with a cute heart latte art. The coffee is nutty and rich, and the milk foam is smooth. It's a café latte that sticks to the basics.

Homemade lemon tea, ₩8,000

The homemade lemon tea contains both dried lemon and lemon from lemon preserve (cheong). The lemon aroma is strong. Sipping the tea while smelling that rich lemon scent warms you up.

Green plum-lime ade, ₩8,000

I wanted plum to help with digestion. I was curious how plum and lime would go together, so I ordered the plum-lime ade. The plum is more dominant than the lime aroma, more than I expected. Plum and sparkling water go well together. It aids digestion and feels refreshing, like everything opens up.

Brick Rouge visit summary

Parking is so easy, and it's a great place for babies to play. The bread and drinks are varied too, so it's good for trying a bit of everything. With rooftop and pond-zone tables as well, it's a big Paju café where you can enjoy nature.
