On a weekend, the writer booked lunch at Roi Sikdang with a former coworker, ordered the 100% fresh cream mentaiko pasta made with udon noodles (17,900 won) and the eggplant tempura beef bowl set (15,900 won), and chatted comfortably for over an hour. Roi Sikdang is a good Hanam Misa spot for a neat, unhurried meal and a long catch-up with someone you haven't seen in a while.

Healthy ssambap dinner with a friend in Hanam Misa: Dolsoe Ssambap

Dolsoe Ssambap is a ssambap (rice with leaf wraps) Korean restaurant on the 2nd floor of Misa Hyundai Cluster 3 in Misa, Hanam. Tired of greasy meals out, the writer met a neighborhood friend at Dolsoe Ssambap for dinner, ordered the Dolsoe jeyuk ssambap (spicy stir-fried pork) for two at 28,000 won, had a basket of 13 kinds of wrap greens refilled to the brim and switched to mackerel ssamjang. For a light, healthy meal and a long chat with a friend, Dolsoe Ssambap delivered more than expected for the price.

Sillim Station sundaeguk spot for a summer stamina dinner: Sinjuokmi

Sinjuokmi Sillim Station branch (신주옥미 신림역점) is a 24-hour sundaeguk (Korean blood sausage soup) and gukbap (rice soup) restaurant near Exits 5 and 6 of Sillim Station in Gwanak, Seoul, open every day of the year. After 8 p.m., the writer and a nephew ordered the Sanghwang Special Spicy Fern Glutinous Rice Nurungji Pork Gukbap, the Sundae-only Gat Sundaeguk and the ₩3,800 suyuk (boiled pork) set, enjoying rich broth, chewy blood sausage and tender pork that felt like a restorative summer meal. For a filling late-night bowl near Sillim Station, adding the suyuk set at Sinjuokmi is well worth it.
