Jeongja Station Korean restaurant: eggplant sotbap with soju, Morang
In short
Morang Haemul Sotbap Jeongja Station branch (모랑해물솥밥 정자역점) is a Korean restaurant specializing in sotbap (rice cooked in an individual pot), on the 2nd floor of Prugio City 2 behind Exit 5 of Jeongja Station in Bundang, Seongnam. Over soju at dinner, the writer had beef eggplant sotbap, the signature seafood sotbap and a side of fried shrimp; the writer usually dislikes eggplant but still enjoyed the beef eggplant sotbap, and the seafood sotbap came with enough seafood to cover the rice. Morang Haemul Sotbap is a good pick near Jeongja Station when you want a neat pot-rice meal and a light drink together.

Which exit of Jeongja Station is Morang Haemul Sotbap near?
The restaurant is behind Exit 5 of Jeongja Station, on the 2nd floor of the Prugio City 2 building. There's a car park inside the building, so it's easy to come by car too~

Atmosphere and seating at Morang Haemul Sotbap
The inside is decorated in warm, calm wood tones. The tables are nicely spaced and the place is kept clean, so I thought it would suit a meal with friends, a meal with your parents, or even a team lunch gathering!

What's on the menu at Morang Haemul Sotbap?
There's a good variety: not just seafood pot rice but meat pot rice too. There are side dishes that work as drinking snacks as well, so it looks like a nice place to have a drink with dinner haha

A 15-minute wait after ordering: how to eat sotbap
Everything is cooked as soon as you order, so it takes about 15 minutes. But that means you get tastier rice, so it's worth the wait~

I came for dinner, so I ordered soju to go with it haha They brought seasoned dried radish (mumallaengi) first, so I snapped a photo of it together with the soju ><
Is the beef eggplant sotbap good even if you dislike eggplant?

The beef eggplant sotbap comes neatly on a tray with seaweed (gim) and bean sprout soup. Ta-da, the pot rice arrives! With the bean sprout soup alongside, it's a great combination for pot rice!
The rice is generously topped with savory seasoned minced beef, shredded radish and big chunks of eggplant.

The rice itself is lightly seasoned, so it's delicious even if you just shovel it in. Beef and eggplant together are the best, the best.

The eggplant isn't too mushy and has a nicely chewy texture. Mix it all up and wrap it in the seaweed that comes with it, and the nutty flavor doubles. I normally don't like eggplant, but this was a crowd-pleasing taste that nobody would find divisive!!
What seafood is in the signature seafood sotbap?

The signature seafood sotbap is topped with oysters, sea snail (sora), clam meat, shrimp and more. The setup is similar to the beef eggplant pot, but they also gave us extra soy sauce.

Fresh oysters, sea snail, clam meat, shrimp and more were piled on so full that you couldn't even see the rice. Highly recommended if you love seafood!

It brings out the clean, deep natural flavor of the seafood. The rice is mild, so it pairs well with the seafood.

Clams and sea snail can easily turn tough, but these were cooked just right and were plump and tender to chew.

And lots of shrimp, my favorite~ They're steamed long enough that the shells peel off effortlessly haha
Is the fried shrimp side good with soju?

The fried shrimp I ordered as a side comes on a bed of french fries, with tartar sauce and ketchup.

The shrimp are huge and fried nice and crispy, so delicious haha They were great as a drinking snack too ><

And of course I dipped the fries in ketchup and ate them up haha
