Pet-friendly bakery café in Siheung with a patbingsu set: Flowerpot

Flowerpot Cafe & Bakery is a three-story bakery café in Mulwang-dong, Siheung, Gyeonggi. It's open 10:00–21:20, last order at 21:00, and parking is available.

I spent two weeks in Japan facing miserable weather the whole time, and coming back to Korea I was greeted by clear autumn skies. I couldn't just sit at home on a day like this, so I headed to Flowerpot Cafe & Bakery in Siheung, a bakery café where you can be surrounded by nature.

Where is Flowerpot Cafe & Bakery? Inside the Mulwang Reservoir food village

Behind the Mulwang Lake branch of Starbucks is the Mulwang Reservoir local food village, a cluster of good restaurants. And where there's good food, there has to be a good café, right? Haha. Everyone thinks of the reservoir view when they think of Mulwang Lake, but once you go further in, the mountain and garden views full of greenery are so refreshing.

Flowerpot Cafe & Bakery, a Siheung café, sits right at the center of all that greenery. It's a Mulwang, Siheung café that calms both your eyes and your mind.

First floor: the plant-filled space where pets are welcome

Flowerpot Cafe & Bakery, a bakery café in Mulwang, Siheung, is a total of three floors — you could call it one of Siheung's large-format cafés.

The first floor lets you enjoy greenery surrounded by plants — the moment you step in, you can tell it's different from your average café. The first floor is filled with nothing but green.

Rather than enjoying the view outside the window, it feels like you're indoors together with the plants. I usually prefer higher floors at cafés, but the first floor here was so charming I wanted to just stay.

The weather's been so nice lately that they had the folding windows wide open, which added even more openness!!!!

Pets are welcome on the first floor. A nice healing time with your family-like pet — great, great.

Second floor: counter, bakery zone and a shaded terrace

The cool second floor is divided into the order counter with the bakery section, plus indoor and outdoor seating.

Since it was a weekday afternoon, the air conditioning was only on for the second floor, so a lot of people were staying up there. They kept the bakery zone and the table zone separate, which made it comfortable to enjoy Flowerpot.

The second-floor terrace has a shade cover set up. On a breezy day, this spot is honestly my favorite. Hahahaha.

Third floor: indoor seating and the rooftop terrace

The third floor is split into indoor and outdoor areas. As always, for a café with a view, the higher up, the better, haha.

The rooftop terrace feels even more open, so you can enjoy nature even more fully. There was a nice breeze that day too, and some people were sitting at the outdoor tables, but I still preferred indoors a bit more. Hahahaha.

The drinks are priced reasonably across the board. Even on a weekday, a lot of people were visiting, so I think this is a café you can drop into often without much burden on your wallet.

Since it's still hot out, the shaved ice sets caught my eye. The sweet mango juice too~

They say the bakery items are all freshly made in-house every day. There's a decent variety, too, and the prices are quite good for a café.

What we ordered: patbingsu set, Alligator and egg tart

This is the most classic patbingsu — finely shaved milk ice topped with sweet red bean and chewy injeolmi (rice cake coated in roasted bean powder).

Highly recommend when you're craving something sweet. It's soft, and the sweetness spreads through your mouth in a way that wakes you right up from that drowsy afternoon slump.

The americano had a nutty flavor and paired really well with the bakery items. Being able to order the patbingsu and americano together as a good-value set was an added bonus.

The alligator pastry and egg tart were both quite sizable. They even cut the alligator for us for easier eating, which was a nice touch.

An alligator pastry topped with pecans is a menu item I order without fail. Flowerpot Cafe & Bakery's version, a large Siheung café, had a slightly thick style with a good pie flavor.

The egg tart was full of a rich egg aroma, the kind of pastry you can still manage even when you're full. The harmony between the tart shell and the egg filling was great. With just the right sweetness and softness, this egg tart is love. ^^

Worth a visit? For green mountain views instead of a lake view

When looking for a café near Mulwang Reservoir, people usually search for one with a good view of the reservoir itself. But a Mulwang Reservoir café where you can fully soak in the greenery turned out to be really appealing too. At this Mulwang Reservoir café, surrounded on all sides by lush nature, I spent a healing kind of time at Flowerpot Cafe & Bakery, a Siheung café where you can find some peace. The parking lot is nice and spacious too, so why not stop by without any worries?
