Hi everyone, it's Boni~ A while back I went on a little Seongsu outing with friends right after work. My body was worn out from the heat, so I made sure to eat something really good along the way — I visited a new spot that just opened in Seongsu, Dwaeji Gomtang House Musinsa Mega Store Branch.
With its clean interior and unusual pork-broth dishes, it was also a great menu for solo dining. I ordered simply and, after eating, felt really satisfied and full~

Which floor of Musinsa Mega Store is Dwaeji Gomtang House on?
Dwaeji Gomtang House Musinsa Mega Store Branch is on the 4th floor food court's special pop-up zone at Musinsa Mega Store. This branch opened this past spring, and floors 1 through 3 were full of new fall and winter arrivals. But we decided to take the elevator up to the 4th floor to eat first before shopping.
Walking into the 4th floor food court, you'll find everything from rice cakes to desserts to all kinds of menus. Among them, we decided to eat at Dwaeji Gomtang House today~

What is gomtang? Inside the clear gomtang set
On my visit last week, they told me the seaweed soup set hadn't launched yet, so I ordered the clear gomtang set, spicy gomtang set, and tot mandu. Around then I got curious — it's not gomtang (beef bone soup) exactly, so what is 'gongtang'? It turns out gongtang is a special name for a broth that keeps the spirit of traditional gomtang while capturing the character of a pork broth simmered clear and deep at low temperature and high pressure~
The clear, refreshing broth flavor was excellent — not greasy at all, so it was great for a meal. The clear gomtang even came topped with tot (seaweed) as a garnish, and paired with the basic side dishes it made for a clean, satisfying meal.

As I ate, I noticed the rice was barley rice~ Gomtang with barley rice — it felt like I was having a truly proper, healthy meal.

How spicy is the spicy gomtang set?
Next up was the spicy gomtang set. They said it's about as spicy as Shin Ramyun, and maybe because I'm sensitive to spice, it got spicier and spicier as I ate~ If you enjoy spicy food, it's a good level of heat, but if spicy food is tough for you, you should ask them to adjust the spice level. Still, it was deliciously spicy and I really enjoyed it~

The meat was tender too, so it was really delicious. The kimchi and other side dishes were also seasoned just right and easy to eat. Can you see the barley rice~? I ate it bite by bite, telling myself it was making me healthier.

What do the tot mandu (seaweed dumplings) taste like?
The tot mandu (seaweed dumplings) had a really clean, nice flavor. I got curious about what tot actually is and looked it up — beyond the fun crunchy bite it gives both in the soup and inside the dumplings, it apparently has various benefits that are really good for our bodies~
- Supports blood vessel health and detox (rich in alginic acid)
- Supports bone health and helps prevent osteoporosis (a calcium powerhouse)
- Helps prevent iron deficiency and anemia
- Good for diet and gut health (full of dietary fiber)
I don't usually eat much tot, so it was nice to be able to get so much of it in a single meal~

I finished the meal cleanly with a fresh slice of orange~ If you're out and about in Seongsu-dong looking for a healthy, warm meal with good broth, definitely visit 'Dwaeji Gomtang House Musinsa Mega Store Branch'! Totally recommend it~
