Summer is getting hotter and hotter, and this is exactly when you have to eat something to restore your strength!! The first food that comes to mind for that is eel, haha. Eel is pricey, so it's hard to eat often, but I heard there's a place in Cheongna where you can enjoy as much domestic freshwater eel as you like at a reasonable price, so I went! Let me introduce 'Songrimbok Jangeo Freshwater Eel Unlimited Refill Cheongna Direct Branch' (송림복장어 민물장어 무한리필 청라직영점).

Where is Songrimbok Cheongna, and how is the parking?
Songrimbok Jangeo Freshwater Eel Unlimited Refill Cheongna Direct Branch is on the 1st floor of 78 Keuriseutal-ro, Seohae-gu, Incheon, right next to Cheongna Lake Park, and it is open every day from 11:50 to 23:00. There's no subway station nearby, so I'd recommend going by car rather than public transport!!
Parking is really easy: there's a big underground lot from B1 to B3, and free parking is provided.

Is there a wait on weekday evenings?
Even when I visited around 6 PM on a weekday, it was really crowded, and after 6:30 PM there was a wait. The restaurant is big with lots of seats, and the tables are spaced widely apart, so it didn't feel cramped.
Group seating can be arranged too, so it's a great spot for family gatherings or company dinners!!

Songrimbok unlimited refill price and table setting fee
The unlimited refill at Songrimbok is ₩29,900 per adult, and a separate ₩3,000 table setting fee is charged, so keep that in mind!! It's an all-you-can-eat place where you get both eel and meat.
They say live eel is prepared fresh every morning from a direct-sale market, so the eel quality is really good 👍

- Table setting fee: ₩3,000

What's at the self-serve bar?
There's a self-serve bar on one side of the restaurant with wrap vegetables, a variety of side dishes and sauces, and you just help yourself, haha. There were lots of side dishes, so there were plenty of combinations to eat with the eel!

Next to it are the eel and meat, and you can take as much as you want! The pork belly was running low, so I asked a staff member, and they refilled it right away, haha.

After we ordered, they brought out the basic side dishes first while we waited. If you want any extra side dishes, just grab them from the self-serve bar!!

The basic eel and meat come to the table, and if it's not enough, you can go get more yourself from the self-serve bar!

How do the freshwater eel taste and texture hold up?
The eel at Songrimbok is quite thick, so when grilled it was crispy outside and moist inside. We put the eel on the grill first, and the eel was in really good condition, haha.

Eel takes a while to cook, and with delicious-looking eel right in front of us it felt like false hope, haha.

Because the eel is quite thick, the texture when grilled is really good! It's crispy outside and moist and tender inside, so you can fully taste its clean, mild flavor, haha.

Eel with ginger, lettuce and pickled perilla leaves
The eel isn't excessively oily, so you can keep eating without feeling weighed down, and the nutty flavor keeps coming, haha. Eating the eel with ginger brings out its flavor even more, and wrapping it in lettuce lets you enjoy it cleanly. It's also great with pickled perilla leaves (kkaennip jangajji) 👍

After the eel, finish with pork neck and belly
At Songrimbok, after we finished the eel, they grilled pork neck and pork belly for us too! Being able to enjoy meat as well as eel is what sets Songrimbok apart, haha. You can fill up a bit on eel and then finish with meat.

Well-cooked meat is tasty on its own, but wrapped in lettuce it's even better. You can taste the juices, and it was grilled crispy outside and moist inside, so even though I was full I kept eating!! Finishing with meat was perfect 👍
